Did you change the crystal when you installed the switch mod so it runs at 60hz correctly?

I'm interested in doing this MOD, but unsure whether it will work with the OSSC at 1080p (5x)

Has anyone had any experience with doing this?

I modded an asian mega drive 1 a while ago
As it will take all cart shapes region locks without filing the cart slot
I dont remember reading anything on the guides/videos about a crystal for the 50 60hz mod
It was just wires and a switch
Same with the language mod

The 10 mhz overclock requires a crystal
But i dont really think its worth doing
Maybe i havent found the games that run better with it
Same with the language mod its not really used
A lot of the games are just in one language

The best mod by far is the csync/rgb mod
So you get your picture from the sony video chip
If you get a good quality scart lead made
To go with it the picture is amazing

All the mods are easy to do its not really worth paying extra for a modded one
The megadrive is a cheap console
But if i was doing another to keep
I would just do the 50/60 hz and the csync mod
Daytonaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa lets go away

Apparently from what I've read, the vertical refresh rates on a 60hz modded PAL Megadrive is a problematic as it only reaches 59.37hz, too far off spec to v-lock with most TV’s. Genuine Japanese Megadrives report a much more respectable 59.91hz. Whilst this is tolerable for many CRTs, upscalers like the OSSC will cause LCD TV's to not sync or stutter....

Just trying to decide whether to attempt the mod, or just go on the hunt for an NTSC-J Megadrive instead and keep it unmodded :P

You can mod a pal one and have a crystal fitted and can switch between them to give true NTSC or PAL on a single pole.
10 mhz crystal is for speed up the system ( why you`ll only naff it in )

While i have both ntsc and pal systems it dont make a difference to me to mod them at all...

Part of nostalgia wants the 2600....

If someone offered me a 7800, I'd definitely be interested though..
