Got this rather unusual Jamma Ms. Pac Man board from Alpha 1 (thanks!) and after a burn of a new 27256 32K EPROM for the 3rd ROM it roared into life first go

However someone in the past obviously decided they wanted to remove the Op Amp for other purposes (*or just felt like removing something for fun) so it's got a missing 7 pin mount where the Op Amp should go.

Anyone know off the top of their head what type of Op Amp it might be (obviously no schematics)?

Most other bootleg Ms Pac Man / Pac Man ones are using 8 pin MB3712 s and nearest I know of with 7 pins are the Tron external amp ones which use 2 x 7 pin MB3730As

Here's a couple of shots of that part of the circuit board, and any thoughts much appreciated!

Thanks guys

Yes - Lawnmowerman's site is referenced in my post where I link to it from the "Most other bootleg" section as I've scanned through that in quite some depth

The Force one is indeed similar, but looks like it is using a 3 or 4 pin Op Amp in the bottom right corner which I don't think will match the 7 pin setup on the "Made In Greece" one

FYI The Force one also has 2 x 27256 32K EPROMs where as the "Made In Greece" one has 2 x 27128 and 1 x 27256

So still a little in the dark as to what it might be!

HAHA POB you found it indeed

another pic

and he also writes

The main PCB is basically the same Pacman bootleg jamma board found in
Mowerman's site under the title of "Bootleg Pac-Man JAMMA #1".

LM's webite

2 Versions of this board have surfaced. One was marked "Made in Greece", which was found in Spain. The above board is marked "FORCE ELECTRONICS" and is actually running Zola Gal software. Notice the 4 dip switches above the ROM in the center of the board. Zola Gal plays a time based game & these dips are for the time parameters.silverfox07862015-01-27 15:36:41

Awesome! - thanks guys

With some digging around it looks like it is a NEC C1182H 7 pin op amp - even the picture looks the same (it had me confused as it's actually upside down in the pictures for the word NEC is at the bottom)

It comes in a mirrored format (reversed pins) so it looks like we need the reversed one

Perfect - £5 off eBay for a pair (one normal, one mirrored) so will wire it up when it gets here and see if we get any sound!

Silverfox - like your cheeky thoughts there about the mirroring!

one more thing I would so is de-solder the 2 side holes and use them to bolt the chip to the PCB

it will help in over heating, and prob why the old one died and was removed

or it was not bolted down and because of that sheared off

one thing to remember which im sure you know is

always bend the legs on chip 90 deg first plug it in to the holes, then dolt it down with M3 small 10mm bolts

then after all that start the soldering

that way you wont put stress on the actual contacts

I also have a similar "made in Greece" bootleg Ms. Pacman with part of the audio circuit missing. I was able to source the 1182 amplifier but could you take a look at your PCB and tell me what value caps you have for the 3 caps. I am missing one cap in the audio section but would like to confirm all three. I've attached a pic. Thanks

That really helps a lot. I'm also missing the crystal and the crystal's disc capacitor. From a midway schematic and your picture I can tell the crystal should be 18.432 mhz. I'm assuming the disc cap is also 100pF as per the midway schematic, but if you wouldn't mind taking a look at your board again I would really appreciate it.

Hi, appreciate this is an old post but I have one of these if you are still looking for details. Just dug it out and started to have a look at it as it's got a graphics issue. It does have the sound amp and sound is working. IMG20231211152946.jpg
