I mean, I don't have a mobile phone/windows/apple and have a pretty good, sandboxed, life ... but ... crack on, Bods. 😅
Meanwhile...
people using Multiple apps on Mobiles for Shop discounts, collecting location, personal information, app usage, device info and financial info on them and then getting hacked and no one bats an eyelid
No offence,
@shanki91 ... but ... I think this is a brilliant idea and worthy of the attempt ... but I'm unfortunately not buying what you're selling because of how you're selling it. Good luck with this thread, I'm sure you'll get a lot of interest, ttfn.
Are you all serious? We're talking about A higscrore, which is a numerical value and a 3 digit Value for the name along with the timee stamp. How ist this sensitive data?
You will not have an account or any personal data on my platform. It's just a simple merged highscrore list from all participating venues
Oh no, my precious highscores have been leaked!!! How will I ever recover
On the flipside, just to support
@shanki91's
premise, the point of the opensource approach (
as long as it is not owned by a corporation) is that, should it be something that invigorates a community, and engages them to the level that they get heavily involved then there is no need for it to ever be irrelevant.
I would take a wide berth from any open source stuff like you have mentioned, purely because the support for it could just end instantly, leaving any or all of your data open to vulnerabilities or attacks. It's nice being free , but you are asking people to put potentially sensitive data into an open source platform with no security policies in place.
Even M$, one of the biggest companies in the world cant get security correct 100%, i will bet you these open source platforms are just wide open.
But anyway, good luck with what you are doing, i am happy to help if i can be of assistance
A good example being Kodi ... and that is ... well ... it's BRILLIANT.
But to support your stance ... I agree ... if you think that all that is up for grabs is high-scores when I am placing a foreign device on my network? Yeah, no ... wariness is warranted, especially for the less savvy.
One could argue (
and no-one has, yet) that potentially router configs and whatnot all you like, but if you are suggesting that, for something like this? Then that's either ignorance or trolling, because the there is a likelihood that folks implementing such solutions are going to be trusting that someone on '
the opensource side of things' would've checked that there's nothing harsh in the code or hardware.
Again, this is all just heresay, and thinking ahead, right now ... and nothing is (or at least was) being said harshly.
However, based on the latest reactions from the OP, I cannot fathom a reason to want to be a part of it, sorry. :-(
