Ok some Christmas light hearted stuff

I found some photo's the other day, mainly some of the cars but only found the one from my bedroom so far in mid 1980s with JVC Hi-Fi amp and my Akai PJ-35 which was the first of my 3 Ghetto Blaster I actually wanted unlike the previous ones which were all my dad could afford bless him lol
Don't know where the pics of the C64 and games on the TV have gone
Wish I had more photo's from the 80s

Anyone else got some photo's from the 70s, 80s or 90s

I had a little splurge on GPK about fifteen years ago. I bought a complete US series 3 and a box each of the 'all new' series 1 & 2 (released after 2003 and still created by John Pound and other original artists) which I shared with a friend. At the time those sets were about £20 each and I was slightly too tight to pay the ~£80/£50 for original series 1/2. Regret that now obviously. It sparked my friend though and he bought everything! All the series, unopened packets, uncut sheets.

When our first two girls were born in 1981/82 we took loads of pics of them ,
the old farm property was always laden with our arcade and youth clubs machines.

The girls learned to play them from early age but when we moved in 1985 the games were more often located in one of our arcades storerooms or the Rhyl depot.

However here’s some pictures 1979 - 1984

‘79 black n white our Cuddington club ‘69ers youth centre with our Jupiter jukebox first pong based Breakout video in a lectern competitive video woody cab horizontal play , our first pool from mid 70s garlando footy and our ‘77 Golden Arrow pinball only a couple of months old when bought… started our hiring empire from here…

Above is our 70s wrecking truck we towed in so many accident cars it paid 20% of our new house then sold off in autotrader from that picture … alien mural both sides with inv revenge bezel spaceships and a group of attacking space invaders .. popular with police as it was a pretty site at smashes.

A few other pictures … best dad made the girls a sandpit from an old deva pooltable and 69ers disco did all their parties..
they learned to play invaders asteroids Turpin Pac-Man galaxia and missile command by the age of 3 …. And were pinball wizards too on Wild Card and BigGame…. Pac-Man was in the black ash woody cab loads of games visible in photos…. The kong was our first conversion from our Alca Scramble which was a bit tired by early 80s Turpin was another scramble conversion we did too. The marquee is a cut down screen bezel off another dead video reverse painted CSYA one of our op identities.

Yeah it was pretty rare to take photos round the house let alone of stuff like the TV and computer.

Got a couple of gooduns here though. I appreciate them a lot more now than I did when my sister took them.

Must be near Christmas 1990.

Awesome mate :) I can imagine if my brother was taking photo's I wouldn't have been happy but as you say it's a different story now
Blimey lying on floor to play Amiga games, If I did that now I'd struggle getting up after 5 mins

Me showing off my Master System to family friends, and another pic of me looking pretty damn happy with life.

It actually made me think how nice it would be to archive all this properly online — a clean personal site or gallery really helps preserve memories, which is why good WordPress web design matters: https://codelibry.com/services/wordpress-web-design/

I could recreate that photo as I still have all my original console stuff but I think it's for the best if I don't 😅
You definitely should Matt ! Great photo. Maybe go even further with the reconstruction and source the same clothing?
That sense of joy as a kid getting a new console was unforgettable , especially for Christmas !

 I was on the floor there for months while people came and went.

They don't make carpets like that anymore. I wish I had a photo of its replacement. The arcade and nightclub on the pier were re-carpeted and my dad got hold of an off-cut which was in my room for a short while before moving. Must have been soon after that photo.

Yes you'll probably never be as happy as in those moments as a kid. I'd only had a Spectrum before that and was so jealous of people with computers with colourful games like c64, Amstrad, Amiga, ST so when I got the Master System and what seemed like arcade perfect Wonderboy for Christmas is was simply mind blowing. My sister still says she can hear Wonderboy music in her head to this day as I never stopped playing it.

As for the photo I've still got the console box, Wonderboy, a table and my mum and dad's house is still the same. I haven't got the clothes but I have got my Liverpool kit from when I was 11 so I could try squeeze into that, i think that will be a nice treat for everyone. Pity all my hair has moved from the top of my head to my chin though.

Will have to do a deep search of the photo albums when back in my mums house next year to try and find some early gaming memories.
I remember nagging my parents for months to buy an Amiga (cited school work as my main reason 😉) The fact was seeing shadow of the beast running on it through the window of Dixons blew my mind. Up until this point my Dad had a ZX Spectrum which was out of bounds for my sister and I. Played Horace goes skiing a few times but that must of been on my birthday or a special occasion 😂 as was never allowed to touch those hallowed rubber keys normally!
Luckily my child minder after school had a NES so that was rinsed 5 nights a week and their collection was probably funded by my parents.
I was born onto the Blue side of Football in Liverpool , my morning child minder was consoleless but was the wife of the Everton manager at that time so was given a lot of training ground gifts.
God bless the 80’s

Awesome photo !
One summer in the 80’s we visited my grandparents in Reading and typically it fell on the weekend of the rock festival ! It was an eye opening experience seeing Punks for a kid. When we arrived at the station I noticed the concourse floor was flooded with stickers ! My sister and I picked up as many as we could find (not even knowing what Garbage pale kids were !) I kept them secretly in my bag til we got home and plastered my bedroom door with them.
Rarely have I seen my mum as horrified when she saw my door completely covered (just like your picture !!).
within the hour her wallpaper scraper was ploughing through them !

Just to refer back to the pictures above the csya Turpin self conversion from a scramble and the necessary mutilation of a screen bezel … here is another mutilation screen which actually was the recycle /upcycle of that specific Galaxia pcb and cab around 1983.. cab long gone but I still have the cash box door somewhere?

We small operators had to do things on the cheap where practical and possible.. already numerous companies were selling new games to compete and several eprom conversion option were also available for common Galaxian and scramble pcbs . We did several upgrades of 9315 mask rom to 2708 black n white space invaders to part 2 pt 3 and inv revenge or lunar rescue etc to lengthen the cab life on site .. then aside from asteroids colour took over… games were expensive except early galaxians

With the odd track link track cuts and wires between ic legs plus some piggy back socketed expander boards 2716 proms Moon Cresta , Frogger and Hunchback etc all were possible by kit and the latter ones came with appropriate marquees too …

However here is one sacrificed midway Invaders screen bezel we reverse painted for that Galaxia cab … our sites mainly youth clubs, cafes, motor cycle accessory shops and our own arcades who cared about quality?

1001 was the single site and arcade side while CSYA was our youth clubs and council venues (sport/leisure centres) as said a growing empire at peak almost 100 videos in 39 youth clubs across Cheshire/Flintshire….
