PS- if any filmmakers do make a documentary on UK arcade gaming back in the 80s, these clips would be perfect.

Absolutely agree dude.  I hope these videos get snapped up for some kind of 80's fair/arcade documentary

This is by far the best 80's videos for this subject I think I ever seen, hence why I thought it so important to post them on here.

Good stuff!!

These could almost be charting the rise of the video camera too. It's amazing how much more comfortable people are being filmed in the second one to the first.

If I could go back in time and re-live the 80's then I would in an instant. I don't really know why everyone complains about them so much. But then I didn't start work until 1986 so maybe that's why. If I could do 1979 to 1986 again, but maybe 5 or 10 years older then that would be great, ta.

[EDIT] On second thoughts, possibly not since I'd probably be dead by about 1985 this time round

Another amazing video, I was thinking exaclty the same as Guddler about people becoming more used to video cameras in the second vid, love looking at the clothes as well, parkers, headbands, just looking out for flourescent socks or was that the early 80's, amazing work & looking forward to number 3 Big smile
Hmmm...it IS a good game, but it needs more tooty frooties ...

Well the wait is over.  Here is 1988-1989.  I think this is the best yet for spotting machines?

I can hear and see a Sega Hotrod, and obviously a cab I'd like to own - Tehkan World Cup.  One with the topper in 1989 and one without in 1988.  Very cool indeed!

Namco Sweet Licks at 3:18!  The guy loosely quoting Operation Wolf after losing at 5:47 - priceless!

Amidar right at the end !!

But wow, that seriously reminds me how much I'd lost interest and it was all over for me by 1987/88. OK, there's the odd one or two classics in there but it's mostly wall to wall fruitys and Jamma's with the odd pole position thrown in for good measure (which I didn't really like anyway). Another year or so will see the proliferation of the detestable beat 'em up games like SF and it really was then, game over.

I imagine I may be alone in that view mind

I think there has been a hell of a lot of fruities on all the videos, especially the earlier ones.  I think we are now seeing a better variation of fruits and vids, with the odd pin thrown in

Reminds me of lots of things, the thing about the 80's was the vast improvements in graphics and game play year on year. There were always leaps in the standard and variety of games around that time.

You just couldn't wait to see what they were going to bring out next.

The 80's was definitely my era.
