VAC members have always supported REVIVAL events well in the past with an excellent turnout, podcast coverage and importantly, equipment and cabinet support. Rcantor and Chuckie Egg will once again be heading up support from machine pledges, and with some input from Smarty, will be bringing a van load up from the south, with Mike Lees coming down from the north with similar and me doing the rounds in the Midlands.

We run at zero profit and logistics budgets are tight, so we depend highly on collectors pledging cabinets and pins to share what they cherish with other enthusiasts, so we are once again asking if any VACcers would like to contribute, there will be free admission and a pint or two waiting for you when you get here ;) We look after your machines well at the show and transport them well too if you want us to collect them, just ask Al when we brought his pride and joy Sheriff machine, Space Launcher and Red Tent last year!

Tell us here if you'll be coming and drop any of us a line if you want to help out and we can co ordinate it from there. Hope to see you all here this May!

I went to this last year and it was great fun. The Bank's Stadium is a great venue and they have a fully licensed bar Beer

I don't think I'll be able to go this year though as the wife is expecting our first child in July and I suspect I will have to be at her beck and call by the end of May. Therefore, lots of pictures and videos of the event please Big smile.

Thanks for the fast replies guys! Good to hear plenty of you make the pilgrimage to the dusty Midlands ha ha. Yeah we've mixed it up in content a bit as we are trying to keep it fresh for regulars, we've made room for more traders and right now the arcade cab count is looking well tidy, with a good mix of playable silver age stuff, multiplayer and collectible classics to keep us collectors happy. The guests are starting to get confirmed and we've got some awesome ones (more on that soon ;)), plus we've got a little more room this time overall and will be having a bit more input from exhibitors outside our team again - Chris has already mentioned there will be some new awesomeness on the Vectrex front, there'll be some more competition and there'll hopefully be a lot more to see of the Spectrum Next!

Bensonrad, yes that is a membership card you have and if you have it, it's still valid. You get early entry (9am both days), 10% discount on things bought from 'partner traders' at the show, and if you order your ticket before 31st March you can get your ticket a bit cheaper. Definitely worth grabbing one if any of you don't have one yet!

Good men! More news to come, just took a few days off to get a load of exhibitors and traders sewn up. As always we've answered requests and this year drastically stepped up our trader count, with 15-20 traders coming, from retro t-shirts and clay models, local favourites, to the top rated event/online traders with the best consoles, games, imports and rarities.

We've started getting machine, pinball and vid machine confirmations now including some rarities and new appearances, so be sure to get on the social media feeds to check them out! A big addition on the guest front is that a bunch of the classic Rare development team will be coming to do a group panel, and hopefully signing my beloved Killer Instinct cabs :). If you got anything you want signing too, from Cobra Triangle, PinBot and Battletoads to Donkey Kong Country or Banjo Kazooie and Conkers, bring them along!

You only have until the end of March to get your hands on cheaper Earlybird tickets and Membership Cards, so be sure to get your tickets soon.

Interested to see what Dave Perry has to say too, portrayed as the villain, he seems to come across quite well in interviews and there no denying he was a skilled player, just maybe don't mention Mario 64. Yeah the cosplay thing is definitely a marmite thing - some love it, some hate it. If we had it we would have to dedicate floor space to something more focused on that to attract the weebs, and u fortunately it would detract from the event. There's a few come along and choose to do it which can be great, but it's more of a younger gamers thing, and retro gaming doesn't appeal enough to them so it wouldn't make much sense to give up floor space to try and drag them in.

Nice one on the podcast guys! There's more guests being announced now, some new guest areas showcasing the Spectrum Next, Amiga fan groups and competition zones, more pin and cab announcements coming, so stay posted!

Nice one Tony... be good to catch up again...

I worked with Tony for years way back in the day and didn't know he was on here... then we bumped into each other at the UKVac Arcade Club Meet and said, at the same time, "what are you doing here?!"

Maybe we should bring along the Arcade Club Lanyards for those who had them and kept hold of them...

After seeing Skycurser today iv'e decided to pre-order one, but the thing is i want to get a really nice cab to put it in. So i'm looking for peoples opinions... something like a Vewlix, Lindbergh or and astro city, egret 2 etc?

Also do i go old school crt or HD lcd?

thanks....

Thanks to Vic for bringing it..

It was alright...a bit packed for the space in my opinion. Don't get me wrong it's great to see a good turnout of people but it did feel uncomfortably cramped at times especially when close to any soap dodgers (and there were plenty)

Vendor prices were fairly reasonable, mostly eBay prices give or take a few quid either way. Except for the one guy to the right of the toilets he's been at most gaming events I've been to in the last 3 years and his prices are outrageous.

Drinks and food prices were very reasonable. Good selection of consoles and a good selection of pinball machines although it was bloody freezing in the pinball area..

I would have liked to see more quality DEDICATED arcade machine titles. I did love playing the Taito 'Ice Cold Beer'

Wait times weren't too bad, noticeably better in the afternoon when the floor was clearer.

Enjoyable day out with friends.

i went today with the kids got to play video pinball and firetruck which i haven't played before and were both in nice condition the kids loved firetruck
would of liked to play ice cold beer but it was always busy also got to play skycurser  on first impression i was not really that impressed with it tbh but it was very crowded around the machine  so i only got to play two credits i think everyone wanted to win the free pack of biscuits LOL

would of liked to see more cabs to play on there were only a few far too many stalls all selling the same overpriced  stuff taking up all the room

i went on sunday last year and it was quieter easier to get a go on stuff
i think i will do the same if they do a solstice this year

Was a great weekend, really enjoyed it.
I agree certain areas were packed and bottle necked at the busiest times on the Saturday, but it thinned out pretty quick mid afternoon.
Thought it was brilliant a mech game (ICB) was arguably the most popular cab there.
Thanks to all who contributed cabs and time for such a memorable event.
I would also like to contribute next year, cant remember seeing a single cocktail?
The curry, beers and late night are taking their toll, i'm off to lie down.

Back home from a weekend at Revival, had a great time catching up with people I knew already and new ones.

Definitely got busier on Saturday than I've seen the other event but it eased off when the Hosted talks started up and the new area for the talks was excellent.  Very pleased for Craig and the team though to get such good numbers through the doors, the event deserves the success and popularity.

I think, like many, the Ice Cold Beer, Fire Truck and Video Pinball were stars of the show for me... but plenty of other stuff to play too.  I really enjoyed the Dave Perry hosted chat and was good to see him don the bandana again to commentate on stage later on.

I have a bunch of iPhone pics too but these are the ones I took with my proper camera on the Saturday...

Only the Sunday for me this year, I would not say it ever got too crowded, and the early entry meant we could have had a go on ICB and some of the other busier cabs, but I stupidly wondered around in a daze getting accustomed to the greatness before me as usual at these things :).

It was a great event again, only minor criticism I'd have is that it would have been nice to have some of the talks on the Sunday too. But that is a very minor gripe. I'll try and go both days next time :)

Very well worth it, and I am very appreciative of all of the team that put it together, a lot of which looked visibly knackered late on Sunday and presumably not relishing the tear-down. More power to you, I hope there are many more Revivals!

The teardown went un-nervingly well LOL We were waiting for something to go horribly wrong, but it never happened.
Safe to say that I'm knackered after the 5 hour drive, dealing with twats on the M6 and M73, then lugging the machines out of the van, but it was a great weekend. Smile

i had a great time Thumbs Up spent most of it chatting, smoking and drinking Thumbs Up very well priced hotel at only £60 a night. we were the last group to get a taxi from the hotel to the curry house. sadly we also couldn't get a table as it was full Cry so we hit the town LOL it was pretty messy at the end ??? i thought i was in hamilton and wanted to go home LOL i think it took 4 or 5 to get me to the hotel room. it was good to see so many people that i have met through shows and forums Hug  skycursor ??? i had maybe 4 credits on saturday and another 6 or so on the sunday. the game is far from finished and i still don't know why it has a 3 button bomb/katana. it is however very much unlocked and i'm sure the finished version will be 1  to visit again Approve it's always good to know that people other than the big hitters are still releasing new shooters Thumbs Up the show itself is still growing year on year, hats off to craig and co Clap i was so impressed i have pledged cabs for next year and will probably do the weekend :) extra night on the razz Ouch

Photo Bomb time.. I had a great weekend, as always I didn't get round to speaking with some of the 'Vac guys I wanted to say hello to.

Ice Cold Beer was the game of the event this year, people of all ages queueing to play this all weekend, such a fun game. Watching Dave CharlieFarr looping it was a great moment, especially for no losing a ball. Extreme natural skill there!

The talks were good, I sat in the Dave Perry one and Jim Bagley's Next talk.

Attendance on Saturday was to capacity, Sunday had a much more chilled feel about it.

A great event organised by Craig and his team, here's to next year! Thumbs Up

TB, nice to meet you too, and everyone else I did chat too over the weekend.

I had a great weekend. Only played the Mario pin with Rog as we got it working as it had lost a ball. Bought a few games, helped get jb to bed, only took one picture, so the usual of mainly chatting and drinking beer oh and as it was revival my pic sums up the other thing...

I loved the weekend. It was my first time at Revival - definitely be returning next year. Great selection of cabs there, including ones that I've never seen at events before (Ice Cold Beer, Fire Truck, Konami GT...). Spoke to loads of Vaccers and Ten Pencers across the two days. Such a friendly community! Much respect and thanks for those involved in the events organisation and supply of cabs.
