Hi

I have wanted a 3d printer for ages thinking they would be usefull for printing monitor spacers and other bits of cabs
my son has also now taken an interest in making figures and weaponry from games to display in his room
So now would be a good time to buy one

Can anyone suggest what to go for are the cheap ones worth bothering with or do you need to spend a lot to get decent prints
It will just be used for us to play with i dont think we will be printing loads so we dont need
An industrial quality one

I quite like the idea of a kit to build as it gives us a project to do together

Any advice ?

Thanks

My mate has a Creality Ender 3 Pro and says it's amazing. He has printed a lot of parts for himself and a few projects for me and the results were bob on.

I have a CR-10 mini which is capable of very nice prints.
The important thing to remember is the cheaper ones are effectively chinese DIY lits.
As such you need to check every nut and bolt, tighten every terminal and usually put some more money i to them to make them good.
But even then never trust them to be left on their own unless in a fire proof enclosure.

I dont want to give the wrong inpression or put you off just to keep a open mind and be sensible :)

I have a ctc bizer duel and an ender 3, both work well, bring cheaper printers just need a bit of time a patience to get the settings right to get good results, I also bought the ender 3 as it is easy to add a laser engraver to it

Cant speak to the Ender but there is lots of tinkering to be done with the CR10 as well!

I did not do to much to mine other than replacing the glass with proper borosilate (or however you spell it!) as the standard bed glass is junk.
I also fitted a metal extruder assembley, spring guides (printed), bed leveling knobs (printed), vibration dampners and silent fans to make it much quieter!

The glass and noise mods are must haves imo the rest is optional really.

You can also put updated firmware on them which I never bothered with.

Mines sat in a box now as I have not used it in about 6 months!!

There was a guy at Revival who was 3D printing logos, pixel art and stuff. Ready player two I think he was called.

Any ideas what printer he was using?
