And Need A Kick Up The Arse To Do It
smiley26.gif

Have so much to do to get this all in order so I can enjoy the machines for once.

Yesterday, spent most of the day moving machines about to get another project that needs finishing where I can work on it, then decided to move all the Arcade Carpet tiles from the 2 places they were to one of the sheds now some machines gone from there

I've bought some Carpet cleaner as there filthy from years of being in arcade, when we have some nice sun again and the stuff turns up I will get on cleaning the ones I need for the arcade building, then I have the huge task of moving machines and parts about so I can get the tiles up now and get these much better ones down, will have to do maybe a quarter at a time. that will then free up more space they are talking up. Also then I can sell the others

Extension still needs Porcelain tiles putting down, there piled up which is space of cab. Side extension is 85% plaster boarded, before I finished it lots more machines came up so filled space before it was done, what stopped me was adding Mains socket above fireplace in lounge for my Technics Hi-Fi system which hangs on wall, as well as Audio to it as no CD, then thought if I change it to TV anytime I should have TV Aerial, Ethernet and was trying to think what else, idea was to drill hole at angle through to the side extension which is other side of lounge wall so don't have to chop lounge wall out, so till that's all done can't finish plaster board

So shelving in there not finished either, then that needs all plastering. Once thats done and floor tiles down I can get the row of uprights along the back wall

When I moved the Carpet Tiles from the wall yesterday, ones at the back must of been damp, it's all soaked into the plaster board I did, they have been there a few years, so thats now more work to do

This end is pretty much done. only small area other end to finish walls then it's just shelves to do

Trouble is having to much stuff to get some of the jobs done, but I really need to crack on and get all this done. Some things I can't do unless the weather is good too

I'm finally at the stage where the Garage > Games room conversion is done and I can concentrate on the actual cabs. It still took ~3 years... or 9 if you count from the year we moved in

The list of cab jobs is very long though

I'm worried I'm getting too many PCBs because I keep putting partly fixed boards to one side to attack new ones.

It's getting to the point where I have half a dozen nearly fixed boards that have small annoying faults that are no fun to fix.

I'll get round to them eventually but I have to stop buying new boards to fix first.

I'm about halfway through doing a proper conversion of the gamesroom. Did a temp one when I moved in....6 years ago, but didn't put a dpc over the concrete, didn't finish the ceiling properly and so on. Got some proper French doors on order (14 week wait though!!!) so I'm gonna lose the roller door and cladding where the old garage doors were, that's going to make it feel like a proper room.

Floor is down now, dpc, insulation and moistureguard chipboard...walls done with timber cladding. I'll get the ceiling up next week, then paint and carpet tiles can go down. Once that's done it's going to be cab arranging time, and I'll be able to get on with the Buggy Boy resto.

Moving house in a month (finally hopefully) And need my remaining cabs that are sold to be collected and the few I am keeping finally restored. Currently double teaming a BAS Jamma cab and a Simpsons. I never wanna see a bottle of paint stripper again.

I’ve got a cab to entirely disassemble, before I need to then find a body shop/fabricator/metal worker (?!) to panel beat out debts and fill holes cut by a previous operator.

Then I need to work out if I should get it powder coated or sprayed, and whether I can get the CP chromed…

It’s just looking at me right now, wondering when I’m going to treat it with the love and respect it deserves…

Can’t wait until it’s done, but just too intimidated to start. Not looking forward to removing the monitor. I’m certain I’m going to break it.

My list is mostly arcade cab based
- Clean NAOMI

- Put NAOMI back together

- Sell spare NAOMI

- Fix sound on Jammafier

- Fix graphics issues on Ketsui Conversion

- Find my Hypersports PCB because I seem to have lost it

- Completely strip my Aero City

- Have it powder coated or whatever it's called

- Replace the transfers on it

- Have the chassis serviced

- Buy another Jammafier so I can permanently have a game in my New Net City (probably Daioujou)

No time to play any games in this hobby

That should not take long ?? get the carpet down and and extension cable … job done

Then a standby tarp of course ??

Joking apart we moved to our current house in 1985 and a few non urgent repairs and projects moved here at that time so 36 years later ………some have had odd days attention and a couple need obsolete parts but mainly the passion you have to prioritise some machines shifts to another one or several or fully working stuff is more interesting and repairs go on the back burner

The problem I have is like the tile picture puzzles which have 15 tiles in 4 x 4 square slide about frame SO imagine around 40 machines and boxed/loose parts in all the gaps with space for maybe 42-44 max . Anything beyond second row has little chance of getting to occupy the treasured naked floor near the work bench

Not least the front row ones are also in the queue ?? and sadly some may never get to run again as the wife has household jobs added to that then vehicle maintenance etc. Time is the factor but even in the lockdown looking back the enthusiasm was quench as we could not move the repairs out to anywhere else ?? . Now, this health issue might force me to sort stuff faster ??????

I have a massive double garage full of s**t i need to sell so i have space. Been meaning to do this for 5 years so i can finally get to my cab and buy more. Idea was to convert this to a games / cinema room but never got started. I need more than a kick up the arse !!! I am repairing in one of the spare bedrooms at the minute but not ideal.

Always got arcade stuff to work on its just a choice of if I have the motivation to work on it or not when you look at it it's not really that tecnical a hobbie unless your repairing PCB,s all the other stuff is pretty basic
Been getting a bit of motivation again recently capped a few crt chassis and got the crt rejuvinator out to zap a few tubes also got an astro city to restore and still have my initial d 8 cab to work on
But also just bought another classic car to work on too so who knows what will get my attention first
Making joystick boxes or jamma harness is just meh in mho
You need something that's a real challenge to even bother
Wanting to work on arcade stuff

Everyone runs into the same problems of buying too many project cabs and not having enough room
focus on the cabs you actually want or have nostgia for and ditch the rest robotech2021-07-30 03:26:50

When I get my Extension finished and the floor done as only a 3rd is down, i've then got quite a few machines to rebuild, restore.

Keep meaning to do a list again to work through, else I get up some days and can't think what to do

Initial D 8

Nice

What car ya got, they take some time up don't that, arcade cabs are easy compared, having a break from the cars this year

That's one of main things for me now, motivation to get the jobs done, used to get much more done years back

Be nice to see it finished mate, it's hard work but well worth it. You know my building started out as my Workshop, thought i'd have that instead of a shed, so was supposed to be Workshop with a few extra machines that I couldn't fit in the house and what happens, I filled that then had to have 3rd side extension
smiley18.gif

Could do with a load of us all working on each others jobs like this, blitz them so there all finished much quicker so we can get on with the cabs, I could pay someone to come in and finish my plaster boarding and floor tiles and be done in days but I like to do as much as I can, the floor tiles I think I got 5/6 down a day
smiley36.gif
hadn't done any tiling before let alone floor ones and don't help the builder can't do a level floor the muppet

My workshop is slowly turning into a gaming room, but need somewhere to put the heavy machines, saw table, drill press, planer, etc...

More cabs on their way, so will need to get a move on, except I've a ToDo list for other stuff as well, ugh!

All work and no play, makes Johnny a ...

I'm personally sick of all the spares stored all over the place so it's all about sorting out and selling what I no longer need.

After selling a couple of cabs recently, I like the space they have opened up so I'd like to sell a couple more and have a smaller collection.

Three or four machines would be much more realistic and my target.

I got round to replacing the noisy fan in my Dreamcast over lockdown. Been putting it off since '99 so I'm nearly ready for the new millenium. Exciting!

like having all the tools

so much easier with Table Saw, got evolution one that cuts metal, wood and plastic, bit cheap made but does the job, need to get another project finished and then I have nice metal working bench and my Pillar Drill can go on that instead of the floor
