Only 2 minutes away from my place, but I was in France visiting family.

When's the next one?

Was there a Galaxian there? Nothing like playing it on an actual cab. Has to be rom set 1 though...
every Sat isn't it?

They had two galaxian machines there.

I could only see one Galaxian and a Galaga cocktail, or have I missed it?

Good to meet you Jim. And good to have a chat with Russ again.

Likewise Shaun... definitely be over again... nice venue, nice vibe and nice choice of vids and all in lovely condition.

I shouldn't say this out loud on a video games forum but great selection of pinballs too!

I think I have a bit of practise to put in before I can challenge Russ on Star Wars or Defender...

Hey guys, really great to see a good few people I know on Saturday and naughty Mr Russ setting the SW difficulty to hardest - and then playing it one -bloody -handed!

In the spirit of current political correctness where everyone is supposed to feel like they've achieved something I think we're going to have a special no-world-champions-allowed-night so the rest of us can feel like we can actually play (self included).

Or let me put it another way - it kinda relies somewhat on me to fix the games when they break so back off on the scores - release the hounds Smithers!

Hope you all got the joke in that bit. It really is good to see great players and some people who've come to the club who we didn't know and are fantastic at some games.

I need a bit of help though....

Can anyone manufacture control panels for the candy cabs?

I'm sick of playing cross handed!

And worst, I have to sit on the left and have no vision in my right eye!

See (no pun), I was an Atari 2600 player and my formative years when my hand eye co-ordination was made permanent was when stick was held in the right hand and the button was mashed with the left thumb - try as I might, I just can't play left handed on an 8-way game.

I can play DK and Popeye on my dedicated cabs because they're 4-way sticks.

So, a joke between me and Andy a lot is that we should get a panel made just for me, well, no, I would like to get a bunch of them done for the candy's for the 1-player games to have centralised joystick and ambidextrous fire buttons.

I know this isn't in the true spirit of a candy cab but would be more in the spirit of the game - there's centralised panels with three buttons but the buttons are on the right so is there a harm in getting some done for buttons on the left.

Thanks

James, would it be possible to make a L/H control panel by removing the components from a regular one and flipping it over (lengthways) and putting the joystick and buttons back on the other side?

I have no idea how a candy cab CP is put together, so please excuse me if I'm way off the mark!

James, could you not just swap over the left and right joystick ports. You could then control with p2 stick and p1 buttons.

Hehe, I did look into that and I just think it would be confusing to everyone else or ugly if we then put covers over the left stick etc.

Best option really is to get a couple of panels made, they're not that complicated, just needs someone with metalwork skills to cut and drill them.
