I've got an invitation to visit a friend who is studying in Brighton, do you guys know if there are still any arcades left? If so, i assume they are full with newer stuff?

Thanks for the info!

There's one just west of the pier on the seafront (as in you can walk straight onto the beach from it). It's a little place but has a few drivers. Up the back are 3 of those massive sit down Electrocoin JAMMA cabs. One's got Street Fighter 2 Champion Edition (I think it's CE anyway, could be Hyper or even that silly rainbow boot edition, I don't remember), one's got Bubble Bobble and one's got Cadillacs and Dinosaurs. All three are in bad condition, terrible monitors and knackered controls.

The Pier has an Afterburner Climax and some ok drivers. They've still got a pretty tidy Daytona 2 player sit-down.

which is now mostly vandalised and at least 2 players have the dreaded random polygons drawing on the screen

arcade just up from the pier has sf2 puzzle bobble, a couple of shooters, addams family (not working last time I went, really tatty) Indiana Jones (pin) in good condition and playable.

When I was last on the pier the Daytona was looking good, what a shame. The one up West Street is there. I've not been in it for a while. I think it's just driving cabs, fruit machines etc...

And yes, it was PUZZLE Bobble, not bubble bobble

. You know "Bubble" just comes so much more naturally the "Puzzle"

. Those machines in there are pretty rough though. The few drivers look ok. Can't comment on the pins as I know nothing about them.

They have a Point Blank and Addams Family Pinball in that one to the side of the pier, the SF2 Rainbow job is mega glitchy as well display wise, not that buttons work properly on the cab.

Aladdins is now a giant wheel like the one in London!

The arcades here suck balls these days. There is the Pier which has a fair few modern things including an afterburner climax that doesn't move half the time. There's the little arcade just under the pier whic has already been mentioned and there's one(!) arcade left in West street that has a Daytona.

That Addams Family in the arcade under the pier has such a f**ked playfield it is beyond belief, it has serious graining and wear, looks like it has been under the sea for the last 10 years.

hehe, that's where the Star Wars cockpit came from that I sold egg ages ago. The op told me that place floods quite regulalry in winter, or at least gets very damp. It's also right next to the main storm drain for the sewers.
