So apparently Black Friday has become a thing in the UK too (even without the giving of thanks).

Been doing my Christmas shopping but obviously every 'bargain' online consumer store is down (Argos, Tesco Direct, Asda...)... but I've found a way to still make orders.

Please share your tips or deals here!

Tips:
- use the Argos text message system to reserve and collect. Text the catalogue number and store name to 61201. Job done. I've just reserved 3 things near me that were the last in stock using this method.
- use the Argos app to get catalogue numbers.
- use the hot UK deals website or app all day. http://hotukdeals.com

- alternatively forget the whole thing and hope you find a present in the last week

You could...or just turn up early for the shops.
I went out before 8am, and no queues at all.
-Most people are indeed reserving/buying online.

It seems some major UK towns, people are going completely nuts in Tescos etc...weird...as only some things are reduced. People see anything reduced, whether 'Black Friday' special or not, and just go mental. Police have asked for calm, and some people arrested and people hurt already.
e.g. Manchester, Cardiff, others..

So indeed, avoid going to shops in a major town...

Stay safe,
Cheers,
DaveO.

Its crazy down at London Victoria today, annoying as my kettle broke this am, I was going to get one from Argos, but can't get on their site to reserve one. Not walking down there to find they have sold out or its manic. I think a lot of it is just clever marketing, bargains can be had most times, you just have to look. This black Friday thing is more the herd of sheep following each other. Not saying there is the odd bargain out there to be had mind!

I could name a particular site that made a big fanfare of their BF deals, most of which were £10 or £15 quid off the price of £400 items (gee!), one of which I noticed was the exact same price it has been for the last week and a half as I bought one a week ago (and returned it!)

Gotta watch them, it's all a load of old bollox. Mostly. Obviously there are SOME bargains to be had.

Pretty chuffed with that.

ooops, can't believe I've been saying that to people all day as well! what a dum ass I am, I did mean to be saying flock as well! Mind you the way people were behaving after following like a flock of sheep, they turned in to a herd of bulls!
