Problem Calling Turbo Outrun cabaret owners

Hi I wonder if I could ask for some help?

I’m restoring a Turbo Outrun cabaret (seems to be called an upright economy)

I’m working on the accelerator pedal, I was hoping for some reference pictures for this specific cab so I can see what it’s meant to look like. I can’t work out how to make what is there, work. And I wonder if it’s not original.

It has a white plastic pin that slots under the metal lever. This seems to be there to stop the pedal flipping up. Makes sense. But when it’s in, the pedal sticks down because it’s all too tight.

Just wondered if there were some pictures I could reference against? It could be that the pedal is bent too much at the top closing down the movement due to being stamped on too hard. Outrun pedals look convex. Mine looks concave.

Thanks in advance. Appreciate any help.

Hi Rob. @biglouie

On my old cab, the pedal lever sat at the top of the slot when not being pressed, perhaps the hinged part at the bottom of the pedal has been fixed in the wrong position?

Mine also had a wooden stop under the pedal, I think this was factory as it was stapled to the base plate. This would have stopped the pedal going all the way down and perhaps stopping it from being bent.

My one also had the plastic pin linking the pedal and lever. I was never sure of this was a replacement for a metal one but as yours has one too I’d say this is the original part.

Photos of the wooden block (with some other bits) attached.

And after rechecking your first photo. I’d say the pedal is bent and concave.( probably because the wooden stop is missing) I think it should have a convex curve like the brake pedal. This would them give some extra length to get the level back to the top position.

Thank you Smarty! I think we have cracked this mystery!! There is a broken off screw under the rubber matting I have removed, so I expect that was where the block was attached. All of this makes more sense.

All fixed up. I don’t have a vice in the shop so it’s not “great” but the convex profile fixed the jamming!! Thx again Smarty.0E18FAF7-A080-475C-88C3-9E2C688D1B9B.jpeg
