Amen to that, although these days they would probably be 3d with polygons and 40 minute cut scenes,
What happened to the good old days of cheap bosses, serious 90's stereotyping, credit feeding and booting the enemy in the face whilst down!
This was one of the first games I remember where you beat the final level then get a boss rush with every one on the screen at once

Yeah thats perhaps a notable exception. It seems a case of technology and graphics making a genre even worse.... I guess all the manufacturers just tried foolishly to best sf2 with stacks of one on one crap fighting games.
Shame really, dragonninja 2 for instance could have been cracking!
