Retro and ebay has killed bootfairs. Everyone from the young to the old, knows the price of everything. All you hear walking around is (I can get this on ebay)...People go through their stuff beforehand and keep all the good bits back, and bring all the sh*t..

To many foreign traders selling tat....People asking full ebay money for stuff...Charity shops with Ebay stores, and valuers coming in and pricing up their tat. Charity shops used to be for people who couldn't afford to buy clothes new etc. Now just money money money.

I tryed doing a bootfair a few years ago
Never done one before
Took some good stuff along mostly kids toys ect some brand new electronic toys that were never opened

As soon as you have paid for your pitch at 6am and drive onto the field your car is surrounded by foreign people
like in any zombie horror film
As you open your boot they are all trying to grab at any think they can get hold of
Before it even reaches your table

I guess its all going on ebay or on there own stall to sell at a markup
As soon as they have bought all your good stuff they are attacking the next poor car booter that pulls up
So all the good items are gone as soon as traders arrive its why you never see any thing good at car boot sales

The rest of the day its the local dole
Crew trying to get things you have marked up for a fiver for 20p
Horrible experiance i would never do another one we just give the stuff away now

Isn't that just a Birmingham thing in general, only time I like seeing Birmingham is in my rear view mirror when I'm leaving

There are some lovely people in Brum but can't wait to leave at end of my shift

Best shopping place I went for a good few years was my local tip, the stuff from there was crazy, boxed Sega WonderMega original Japan one not Victor JVC. pretty much every old console, computer that you could think of and I only saw a small amount of what people threw away.

Better than all car boots in the area, shame that came to an end, started getting less things thrown away once ebay was house hold name but still plenty good stuff

Still have about 25 C64s with probably 1000+ original games and 6 Amiga's with all extra disc drives, hard drives, memory and other stuff, sold loads of them as well, my loft is quite big before it was converted, that used to be half full of all the old computers and console stuff, sold a huge job lot of stuff to clear some of it as just too much

Good old days them were

yes it may just be a birmingham thing

The local car boot sale is in ley hill
Which is not a very nice area at all

I guess it may be a different story if i did a carboot sale in a nicer area
