other day I was looking for some screws out of an amp I took lid off about 5 years ago, amazingly I found them quite quick  they were a bit dirty so I thought I'd just soak them in some cleaner while I pop to shops, 20 mins later I'm back and I didn't check which cleaner I used, thought it was bathroom cleaner not that I expected this on the gloss black screws from the amp, only bloody stripped them back to the bare metal o_O

Luckily I have the blackening kit to restore them which is what they did look like

So while I'm tidying up ready to get my new old bath in to fit I find one of the dollys for car work, I thought lets try it on some rust then. just sprayed some on the top and left 20 mins and wiped off

The blackening kit I have suggested before is excellent. If the bolt: / screw heads are extremely rusty I will normally do a few 24 hr soak in zep before the blackening process as the mild alkaline in step 1 will not normally fully remove heavy rust in 10 mins. I find the blackening effect process works better as a result of the zep soak also.

Happy Screw Saving !
