Clearing location data from images?

Given that mobile phones seem to record way too much information in image files like jpg i tried to remove it using windows 7 as it has a nice little option to do that.. if only it worked!

Anyone know how to do this on windows 7 (i.e. get it to work) or know any good programs that do this?

W7 is acknowledged as broken if you do the right click...Properties...Strip

I save as PNG but bear in mind, us, imgur and most others strip EXIF.

Thanks, I looked at PNG but it also seems to carry all the metadata

It was for images to load up directly to this site, i'll take a look at freeware apps and see if i can find one

Would be a cool feature for the site if uploaded images could be "cleansed"

It's not actually rocket science to write something to do that. I've done similar things with image processing for a living in the past, but it would just be yet another thing to add to the long list of things that I start and never finish if I did

I'm a .NET developer so i looked up the code for C# and it looks pretty simple so i'll just make a quick app for it

Only reason I mentioned it for the site is many people may have no idea that they are giving away the location of their top secret storage barn packed with hundreds of cabs. If only i had a top secret barn..
