Hi, someone I know got an upgrade done on their DDR cabinet that meant it no longer needed the original monitor. I'm not sure what the original monitor is but it was working so would it be compatible with the old game PCBs bearing in mind it run off of some sort of Konami set up. I believe someone said these cabs had tri-synch monitors in, whatever that means, would this be a problem, cheers.

The PCBs that run DDR in the CRT based cabs were only ever 15khz I believe. The original DDR monitor is a Toshiba D29CR55. I have an original Japanese cabinet, it looks like it originally had a Toshiba monitor in it as it has a leftover Toshiba remote board in the coin door that doesn't do anything. It had already been fitted with a Nanao MS9 monitor out of a House of the Dead cabinet judging by the spooky insert coin screen burn. I've seen people say that a Nanao MS9 chassis is compatible with the original tube if the tosh chassis is dead.

A lot of people put Dell u3014 LCDs connected to a GBSC upscaler in them these days from what I've seen on DDR community discords. That's usually to play newer stuff on an old cab tho.

It's an awkward one at the moment, it's a business that's sort of changing hands. The new guy will be inheriting all the spares. Got to see if I'm still going to be involved or not as I've only helped out with repairs on a casual basis here and there. Hopefully I'll still be involved. I know that money's going to be tight for him and he will for example need to do something in regards to a HOTD 3 shotgun as the left and right gun casings, pump grip, trigger and trigger guard are completely busted. The 2nd gun ain't too clever either lol, so I'd expect he might be persuaded to trade or cash in on the spares he won't use to fund replacement bits he definitely needs.

Ah ok, not good with the technical jargon lol. Well fingers crossed, I know he's got a few other bits and bobs he'll probably never need for the machines he's got.

What ever happend to this ?
The computer for hotd 3 died, took everything apart and put it back together and it worked for month then died. Another guy did the same and it died the next day and since then no dice, been off for 8 months now, if I can't guarantee fixing it then he won't pay for the time to diagnose it, make it make sense lol. Think the ddr monitor is still on the floor in the store room somewhere, probably face down but all the cables for it are still in the machine, so I'd have to go in and remove them foc anyway, he really seems to have lost interest. Bit embarrassing as with many of the machines he's got off I'd communicated with people on here and elsewhere to find solutions, much unpaid time and effort then he went cold and didn't bother going forward with anything. So apologies to many, Timor,Andy geezer and gunblade are but a few who offered solutions for him, couple that with the other arcade guys workshop clearout bits that ended up bypassing me with no payment for a lcd monitor repair I did and several hours of pulling stuff down from an attic, photographing posting on here ready for sale. I pulled away from that one and gave up really before I'd done too much free work lol. Tried sorting some sega bits for channel guy but again dead machine guy said no and they're rotting on the shelf again serving no-one any purpose. Bit disheartening as I really just try to help people out with very little/financial reward if any. So yeah I'd have loved to have sorted lots out, I've always enjoyed this, milky getting his trimline cpo made me buzz, the free stuff cpos, connectors etc. Even recently John T getting his power supply cage and matt his joysticks are what it was about for me, seeing the end results, and John I hope all is ok mate.
So yeah Dan that's what basically happened.hotd3 dead,hotd4 dead, pump it up first addition computer dead, alien extermination dead, 4 pinballs all with problems unsorted that i could fix if allowed time to diagnose and order parts, fast and furious monitor dead(tube really dim so dead, sourced lcd replacement £££'s but no action taken as yet)and they are just the main ones, loads more working but not correctly lol.
Again apologies, Andy
