i personally will never bother to even try to log into j+ again

the way the mods are acting on the site is nothing short of shocking

long live ukvac!!

i dont see the other forums banning members because they post on other arcade related forums

and at the end of the day all they are doing is forcing out the more experienced members of the forum and all j+ is left with is a handfull of tech heads who i personally would not trust with advice or repair of my stuff

the guys who are really in the know are on this site!

just me 2p's worth

I will not go into details, as far as im concerned im finished with jamma + . but i did find it a very uselful site, with alot of nice people, lots of knowledge ect. found what i needed here also, so as its all only pretty basic ill settle here, scared to post now though,

PS Im not 100% right , as it started for me, trouble is it got the better of me, VERY RARE :)

& I Bit,

Naughty boy that i am !

Mine is vey petty really, but all said meant somthing to me at the time. i have no bad feelings with J+ but feel it only right others that feel any way about anything have the right to feel that way.

All Said i jumped to quickly but my point stays.

I joined J+ just before all the stuff discussed in this thread kicked off. It was talked about there for a few days and then the threads were deleted. As a newbie there I kept out of it, but got the impression it was a big deal and that the forum was undergoing some change in it's community.

Now I'm still fairly novice at Arcade collecting and have no interest in creating allegiances or taking sides. As far as I'm concerned we're a small group of people against the odds of technological advances and discontinued CRTs
smiley13.gif
and we should therefore club together and all be friends
smiley31.gif
. Share our wealth of knowledge. I said this there at the time of all of this.

So I have no opinion on any of this other than it's a real shame there's a split in the community, and I hope people don't bring dusters to the next meet

.

We should all save our fighting for Galaga, Space Invaders and Street Fighter

.

But Bob, I'm on J+ too and watched your one unfold. Now I get the impression generally that Aran can be a little brash at times, he's extremely sarcastic. But there's often banter around selling and prices. The other day Liti put an MK3 cab on for 1300 Euros. We ripped into him quite a lot, but it was all in the name of laddish banter, and it sold within a couple of hours of going live anyway.

I'd urge you not to take it to heart. Nobody meant anything by it, you got a successful sale and the other guy was happy with his purchase. Sleep on it. Spread your love for arcades across both forums. I do. It's very fulfilling.

Hi guys,

I'm not writing as an Admin, Mod or anything else other than a member of UKVAC here, just to be clear.

I think we're all going to be much better off if we focus on the fun side of the hobby, rather than raking over stuff that's happened in the past. I'm certainly not going to issue warnings, delete posts (unless you post pictures of donkeys doing unnatural things - just PM me those
smiley36.gif
) or any of that kind of thing, but I hope that this thread gets left to drop down the list of active topics until it falls off the bottom, and we just get back to the enjoyable bits of the hobby, which at the end of the day is why we're all here.

As I said, ignore any title next to my avatar and just read this as one member amongst many, and certainly feel free to ignore me :) But hopefully we can let this rest and get back to fixing cabs as old as we are and reminiscing about the days when you could walk into any town and get your ass kicked within 30 seconds of starting up R-Type (ok, well maybe it's only me who had that problem
smiley4.gif
)

cheers

Did you ever get chased by dinosaurs when playing after school? And what did the world look like in black and white? I thought Bazfish was bad enough, but at least when he was born the world had 16 different colours (and no flashing "pretend" colours either
smiley2.gif
).

Maybe my relative youth explains why I'm so crap at actually playing the games :)

Well at my (nearly) 42 years I can honestly say that Aran has a somewhat dry sense of humor and that while some people in here probably wouldn't agree, for potentially justified reason I'd be fooked without his help in RL - cheers dude!

But as I said last weekend, I realize things got a bit daft at certain points.

Anyway, after a few bottles of vino, I'm hoping for a good day tomorrow. And yes, it takes a long time to type all this crap on an iPhone!!!

Let's all hug and move on. And of course, welcome (with my official hat on!)

At the risk of repeating myself I have no real interest in allegiances. I have been trawling the web so long for this arcade related cr@p that I started exclusively on RGVAC, before UKVAC even existed or any of the other groups. J+ was around for ages before I knew what anyone was even talking about, then there's klov forums, dragon lair project, dragons lair fans, arcade otaku, schmups, BYOC, vectorlist, rasterlist, etc. I still prefer mailing lists to forums and essentially it's fortunate I have time to browse them all on company time as there are now just tooooo many
smiley5.gif

However, I've found my requirements have changed over the years from buying lots of cr@p and going to game meets to repairs, not because I have lost interest in playing games but because I probably have bought most of the ones I like/realistically expect to obtain at a price I'm prepared to pay and they are getting more unreliable with each year and harder to find people prepared to fix them. Lets remember, when I first had my jamma cab I was buying PCBs, some less than 3 years old direct from operators for home use.... ah the good old days.

Kdoe, pretty much agree 100% with what you say, and I'm in a pretty similar position, got everything I can fit into the game room just interested in keeping it running and fixing up spares. Personally I think having multiple forums/lists is a good thing, I tend to stick to the ones that can help me repair my games, curiously they are the same sites that I started using back in 1999 when I first got into this hobby :) Similarly other people who's interests differ from mine can tailor their own reading accordingly and having alternatives at the end of the day keeps us all honest. I don't have the luxury of time that you obviously do at work (joke), so I need to concentrate on the few that have the data I need without the hilarious "sugar frosting" ;)
