Great thread!

These were my favourites, in no particular order, but the first two definitely had the biggest influence on my life.

Atari VCS. I could play Space Invaders at home, and it was just like nothing like the arcade game! Loved my VCS. Amazingly, way back then, the best games were around £30! I still have a VCS (it's about 6 feet away as I type this) and nowadays you can pick up cartridges for 50p, so it's easy to amass a the huge collection you dreamt of as a kid!

Commodore 64. The best computer ever. I probably spent years of my life playing, programming, trading & copying games on the 64. My first online experience too, thanks to Compunet!

Entex Space Invader. It was a shockingly bad version of Space Invaders (it used the same graphic for the bullets as the aliens) - BUT IT WAS SPACE INVADERS, AND YOU COULD TAKE WITH YOU AND PLAY IT ANYWHERE!

TCR Total Control Racing. No matter how hard you tried, the cars always came flying off the track and they never really changed lanes quite as well as they did on the TV commercials, but this was awesome fun, especially in the dark with the little cars' headlights lighting the way. Awesome stuff!

It wasn't just toys though. My old gramps worked at the Fleetway printers in Gravesend so often got discounted stuff. So my Xmas included thinks like
