Very interested in this also, by the time you've picked up the parts minus the boards, you have to be getting close to what an authentic one goes for at the moment? Or am I over egging it?

With some cabs so scarce now and prices High it's certainly one option if you want something.

Also some of the cabs that do come up are in such bad state you can end up half rebuilding them anyway, I like them with Arcade Battle Scars

and cheap

but not falling to bits bad because they been somewhere damp for years

Many cabs are far from original, if the cab itself is the artwork and or internals probably aren't so why not make new one, even if you put emulation in till you get original boards etc it still looks the part and can play it

Obviously some are harder to do scratch build unless you bought Control panels, Boards, looms etc when the parts cheap. anything Jamma with Joysticks is easy to do, boards easy to get, jamma loom, monitor and if wood CP with artwork it's job done easy

i would love a set of cabinets all running mame, even through lcd, that looked like originals but would actually be guaranteed to work every time you switch them on. i think there would be a good market for such repros if they were full size instead of arcade1up miniatures.

gorf, robotron, star wars, a driver, a gun cab, and a couple of generic very and hot i cabs would be all i would ever need
