Grrrr, I was only there around three weeks back thinking it was the last arcade in the SE that had any games I wanted to play. Wonder if the power failure story is true.
I think it pretty pathetic that the capital city of the UK can't even keep a place like this running. I'm not sure if I'm blaming the coin-op industry or 'great' Britain PLC but either way it's pretty shoddy. I guess that leaves Namco station and Goodge street as about the only places left and the latter isn't that convenient to get to.
I though they were going to close in the next few years anyway due to the lease ending ?!?
i just assumed id got my timings wrong and that the lease had already expired, ive been there a few times this year and each time the arcade was getting smaller and smaller.
The fact that the main entrace (huge escalator) was removed back in Jan/Feb I though they were getting ready to demolish
Is that the Namco one where you have a swing arm each and have to try and push each other off the track leading into the distance? If so Rav or Oll own one and it was at Ravlar's last time I was down there (getting my ass handed to me by a kdoe who enlisted Connors to tickle me)
This is konami button bashing, 3 players. each has 3 large coloured buttons that have to be bashed in the correct order depending on what's happening on screen.
kinda like point blank mini games butbwith button bashing.
Missed one on eBay about 8 years ago that sold for £102 never seen one for sale since, quite rare in the UK I think.
Not really a suprise, its shut, its been going downhill for years. glad I got to experience it in its prime when it was Sega World, up the escalator and taken round and round going up floor by floor. Was a great day out.
I just heard from my friend who works for Las Vegas that they will have most of the machines from Funland in the basement. Also upon request and if the demand is high you can request machines. Yay! A mini Funland lol!
Las Vegas is on Wardour Street number 89-91 so please let everyone know asap. You can add them on facebook, share the link and spread the word if it’s popular it may bring Funland back
Hi the_gamer and welcome to UKVAC That's a pretty speedy exit of the games from the Troc to Las Vega; I'll bet there were more than a few members who were thinking of making a trip with a van to the Troc
.
Good to hear they're not ending up in a skip somewhere.
