Hey all, a friend of ReproArcade this week sent us something pretty special. Scans of NOS GI Joe side art pieces. When looking at the art thats currently available there's some huge tells that it's from smaller blown up conversion art so we think this is the first time this has been scanned and cleaned correctly. As per most of Konami's 90's 4 players these sections came in three pieces, these have been stitched to make one single piece for the sides.
For some reason the art thats floating around doesn't have the correct solid blue top section. The original NOS art has an almost watercolor effect which was lost in the upsizing of whats already available, whilst it's ugly... it's accurate. Another big issue was the foot on Scarlet which just disappears and is cut in half. The available art also is very soft so it's been penned in a black sharp brush to bring out details. This is apparent on faces and key details I have included a few comparisons showing how the orginal art should look and what to look out for
