Ive got one of these at home. Awesome bit of kit and works really well:

https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B01N4EGN6H

Ive mounted it on the outside wall at first floor height and gives a great signal all the way down to the bottom of my garden.

Its IP rated for outside, and is PoE (Power over Ethernet) so you only have to run 1 cable to it (an ethernet cable) as it comes with a power injector that you plug it into indoors.

Its the best bit of home networking kit ive bought. 100% recommended

Outdoor ethernet or if they're on the same power go with a power line solution (through your mains).

Just upgraded the one I use in my games room to get wifi in there. Great bit of kit. As stated above, you need to plug them into the same mains circuit as the 'transceiver' plug, though.

Power line boosters imo are not good but could be my house and its wiring having some interferance and have never worked well for me i found running an Ethernet cable and then having another router set as an access point connected to it worked the best but all depends how your house and such is set up

Been thinking maybe I could run an outdoor Ethernet cable?
Thats what I did and best way!! I have Netgear 500mb Power line Adapters round the House for CCTV, every now and again I have to reboot the one by the Router as I lose all the Cameras!

just had to reboot it again today! Ill be running CAT5 instead at some point soon! they might be fine at low bandwidth for you though.

I have 2 I recently removed if you want to try them out

Yes it depends on the wiring and don't use them on extension leads, electrical lines are noisy anyway though, so they work reliably 99% of the time (I have to reset mine, but nowhere near as often as I have to reset the router anyway). The good thing with them is they're easy, so very easy...

I think mine needs resetting due to high bandwidth use of the Cameras!
