can anyone help?

Q1:

if i have an image of someone's face square on and i want to apply an effect to it to give a basic illusion that face has turned a bit to the side (about 30degrees?). without mapping the image to a 3D model, are there any techniques that can make this possible? displacement maps?

note the key word "basic".

d'oh! found a video:

any alternatives?

next question soon. =)

For a 1 minute solution I might do something like this:

Photo, want him to look like he's turning to the right.

Plot shading area for enhancement with pen tool

Make selection

Adjustments>Shadow/Highlight

Transform>Perspective

not bad, thanks for that.
ideally would like more of a turn.
what would be the maximum amount you can turn the perspective before it becomes completely distorted? (i'll try it when it get home).

You can't go far before it looks obviously distorted, but as a quick solution it's ok. The method in the video is a much more realistic way of doing it but obviously a lot more labour intensive.
