Untested as yet but should be fine.

GM is now x64 by default and comes with D3D9EX pre installed, so just removed all non arcade roms and added suppression patch.

Cheers for this. Did you ever find out the deal with the new Switchres?

Forgot to mention the new ini file. Best to grab the new one from GM GitHub and copy your edits over (screen resolutions, etc) to it

Yes that's what I did, was a bit of a pain to do, but the Groovymame in my DinoKing is now done and working well.
One thing extra I had to do was rename the executable back to mame64 to keep the frontend happy (I will fix that setting at some point)

I will try and get out the arcade tomorrow and do my Vertical and another Horizontal in my Blast Citys tomorrow.

Cool. Glad you got it sorted. I might have to pass on the build process to you as not sure how much time I'm going to have come August for arcade related stuff as we have our first little one on the way. To be fair it's never been easier than it is now. Only one patch to apply!

Well if you have the time to talk me through one, I would be happy to do it.

I updated my 2 other cabs today, no major hurdles other than the vertical one was upside down. In the front end, it added a -rol parameter when the games were started. Oddly I ended up having to change this to a- ror.

Thanks for this Jonny.

I've updated my mame .exe and ROMSET, and it seems to be working well.

Hiscores weren't saving though, so I had a look online and did this:

Checked mame .ini to make sure 'plugins' was set to 1

Changed 'plugin' from - to hiscore

Downloaded latest hiscore .dat from Github, copied it into the hi folder, and checked it was set to read/write

...and it still doesn't work :-(

Is there anything obvious I'm doing wrong or missing out? Or is there a reliable guide somewhere online?

Cheers

Do you have a plugins folder, is there a sub folder in there called hiscore ?
Start your mame exe from within a command prompt and use the verbatim argument, see if that give you anything to go on, ie "mame.exe pacman -verbatim"

Thanks Tronads. I'll check both of those things this evening. I'm just about to clock in for a shift in the garden.

OK. So I've checked the plugins folder, and it did have a subfolder called hiscore, which did actually contain a hiscore.dat file. I replaced it with the .229 version, but still no luck :-(

I'll need to get my head round the verbatim stuff and see if that tells me anything.

oops, yes verbose it must be.

I must have been thinking about copying xbox360 games to have "verbs" in my mind.

Hahaha. No probs. I'll try to have another look later.

I'm on holiday this week, but seem to have less free time (aka me time) than I do when I'm working.

OK, I've finally had the chance to tinker.

I ran: D:mame mame64.exe rygar -verbose from the command line in my cab PC

It started up Rygar fine.

When I left the game the screen filled with text, and as I grabbed my pen and paper to write down what it said, the text disappeared!

Does it save somewhere automatically? Should I press a certain button to freeze it?

I also did some more research online.

Other folks have had probs with the Mame /Attract mode combo, and saving hiscores.

Someone suggested that changing the workpath in the frontend menu to the mame folder had solved the problem for them.

I checked mine. Workpath was... blank. So - all excited - I typed in the address of the mame folder, saved it, and... nothing :-(

So to cheer myself up, I thought I'd have a go at Darius Gaiden for the 10p Arcade challenge.

I've been playing this totally vanilla - but as the rules allow for using and trimming autofire, I thought I'd give that a go. So I went back to the windows interface, accessed the mame .ini file, and changed the 0 beside 'autofire' and 'cheats' to 1. BUT NOTHING HAPPENED!

AAAARRRGGH.

This is really doing my nut in.

Think I might have to scrub everything and reinstal from the start.
