Hello everyone

Just a quick backround I have been playing video games since the days of my comodore Vic20 since then I made my way through just about every games machine out amastrad cpc464, spectrum nes snes ps 1,2 I even owned an atari jaguar for a bit. Now i'm selling my playstaion 3 and I'm going to but an Atari Asteroids upright with the sole purpose of beating the world record high points toatal.

Its my aim to break 50,000,000 points and play for around 60 hours. I know this is a monumental task the key word being mental but I have the skill and will power to do this.

first step I need a relyable Atari asteroids upright then comes the hard work

practice practice practice.....

Getting the WR would be pretty awesome. Once you've got things lined up then I'll happily come up and provide any on site tech backup you'd need, plus it'd be cool to watch (some of) the record. Not sure I can do 60 hours straight up, but I'd be there for the beginning and end

Its the world record set by an american lad in jan 2010, I think he score 49,000,000 it took him 58 hours non stop. I know its a monster to attempt but I know I can smash it.

The previous high score was set in 1982 so 28 years to break it.

1st things first, I need a really good Asteroids not bootleg pcb, its got to be as origional as possible.

I would apreciate any help the admin team could provide and I will definatly keep everyone posted as to my progress.

I'm gonna set up two video cameras to film it round the clock and stream it live over the net aswell.

Just need a machine to practice on now, all I need to do is get to the point the score rolls over at 99,960 the rest is easy I work nights and often stay awake for 48 hours on the last shift so would only need to push it another 12 hours.

Just think It would be wiked if I could bring one of the world record high scores to England and set one that wil take something special to beat.

I was talking to the guy who broke the Lunar Lander record recently.

He would practice for weeks, and wait for that certain combination on 5X and 4X landing pads. After a few months he had the record. Well it actually happened in private while not being recorded, but lucky he did it again during a major event in the presence of the officials.

I don't envy what you have ahead, but I wish you all the best there

Is there a "Tournament" record as well? The one where you don't get any extra men at all only the 3 (or 5?) you start with? Maybe that'd be a good one to go for first?

Is there some kind of allowable cheat to attain these amazing scores. I tried this the other night

Supposedly if you hold down the thrust button while firing continuously, you are able to go for hours at it.
I would get RSI myself.

The other secret was to destroy all the rocks except the last smallest piece, then shoot the little alien ship over and over again and get good points. (And again etc)

Personally, it's no use, as I seem to hit that last little rock or let the alien's bullets get me.

There is a tournamet hi score but that is solid, no way gonna beat that.

With the marathon record you get an extra ship every 10,000 so the aim is to get as many lives as possible when you get to 99 lives you can step away from the machine for the odd break or two.

Lol at Dezbaz thats probaby gonna happen to me.
