Hello, few people will know me from some of the Jamma+ forum meets or from Arcade Otaku.

I reckon it's best to have opinions / views from a few different arcade forums, so here I am to check out the good 'ol UKVAC.

I am an Engineer, who is currently in the middle of building a Taito Trimline (remake from scratch) which I'm going to be furnishing with Arkanoid. Arkanoid was never released in a Trimline, which is a bit of a shame - that's why I'm doing it. I also haven't got a cab with a spinner...

It's at www.taitotrimlineremake.blogspot.com if anyone's interested.

Cheers

Hi Vic,

Good to see you over here and excellent blog. I never knew you were making a Trimline - I've been using the 4 still-in-box models here as props for my spray painting! That's some nice work you've done :)

cheers

Hi Vic, welcome to the real world! Cracking job on the trimline, how did you get the plans to do it? Do you have another trimline to use as a template or do you have some actual plans. Presumably you could easily make other control panels and convert it from Arkanoid to something else (like space invaders) pretty easily.

Looking forward tom some input in the tech area :)

That woodgrain looks like the best match I've seen yet for Atari cabs. Might need to get me a sample of that

Cheers Chaps!

Dan - Yes, I have a Phoenix Trimline I got from Germany many moons ago. Yes - you could change the CP/CPO, the Marquee and the under glass instruction sheets to pretty much whatever you like. An invaders would be awesome, I was actually going to do a SI 2 (I have a colour boardset) but I need a cab with a spinner (never played Arkanoid properly!)

I hope to do another Trimline after this one - horizontal next time, with a slightly newer game it, but I'll see how this one goes first!

Martin - The woodgrain is only a stickyback vinyl, so won't be very hard wearing, bu for my uses will be fine. It's a German product which looks to be miles better than crabby Fablon. The one I used is called "Rustic Oak" and can be ordered from an Ebay shop called Vinyl Depot.

The company is close to me and I went and picked the stuff up. They also can do screen printing. Very interesting... I am going to send them the URL of MameMarquees and see if they can do a similar sort of thing. Could be onto something with these guys... They will also send samples out.

Welcome Vic, that Trimline is looking good mate - don't recall actually seeing one of the original cabs in the flesh. Wish I could spend my days at work building arcade machines.

I only spend "some" of my day arcad-ing...

Mind you, I have got to make monitor brackets tomorrow.

I will also be making the coin door surrounds too.
