Hi All

I'm from Staffordshire, I'm a big fan of the 16 bit gaming era and still spend far too long playing Super Aleste on my SNES.

I've joined this site to ask for some advice; I'm going to best man for a good friend next year, so obviously I'm responsible for planning the stag party. The groom to be is a HUGE fan of old school arcade games so I was hoping to find a "proper" games arcade that we could ideally hire out for the day. I've had a look around and a lot of places claiming to be arcades are just full of fruit machines and video poker games. Surely there must be one or two arcades left in the country?

If anyone has any suggestions that would be really appreciated!

Thanks all

Hi m4kersm4rk. Welcome to ukvac! Many of our members have their own personal arcades where they host regular meets but I'm not sure they'll be up for a stag party

I don't know where you are in the country but if you're down south, or can travel then the Arcade Barn is probably the best example of a private, proper arcade left in the country. Their website is http://www.arcadebarn.co.uk and if you mail Shaun I'm sure he'll be able to sort something out with you. You can also find him on here as river9999uk to send him a Private Message http://www.ukvac.com/forum/member_profile.asp?PF=196

Good luck for your job as best man and hopefully we'll see you around the board.

cheers

Hi guys, thanks for the advice, I'll definitely drop Arcade Barn a line, I had a look at their website and it looks like a great place and I'm sure the groom would love it!

Really appreciate the fast and polite response, it's nice to know that there are still some corners of the internet that aren't entirely populated by angry idiots!

I've never been so offended - that was my best angry idiot posting

. This place is probably one of the most laid-back sites I've ever seen on the internet so it does tend to be very relaxed.

We may not be the busiest site on the net, but we've got quality over quantity and we're proud of it. Plus there is no better site on the net to get technical help with your arcade collection (you do realise you'll start buying machines soon right? It's inevitable

).

Whereabouts in the UK are you? If you populate your location field then you'll probably find you start getting invites to mini-meets that people arrange. I'd say about 60-75% of the regular posters here know each other so people tend to meet up on a reasonably regular basis.

cheers

I actually got in to this hobby after I found the arcade barn while looking for something for a stag do, didn't realise their was such a big community for these old machines...a year or so later and 7 cabs and thousands spent now...hope you have more self control than I do
