Hi guys,

Just thought i'd introduce myself here as I joined some time ago but still haven't got around to it.

My name is Andy from Chelmsford, Essex. I left uni and started repairing arcade boards for various arcade vendors, mainly on the essex coastline. I then started a website (arcaderepair.net) where I repaired a great deal of boards, maybe some of you have come across a board with one of my repair stickers on that I used later on?

I was then forced to get a "proper" job in IT which seems to completely take over my life :(

I've been a member of VAPS for a good number of years, trying to help out with repairs, i'm fairly good with monitor repair and the usual stuff, not so hot on the restoring artwork though due to massive lack of patience.

My collection consists of the usual space invaders, pac-man, my favourite game of all time track and field, nintendo cocktail tables (DK and firebird), a taito cocktail, and a few pinballs; the simpsons and harlem globe trotters.

I do have about 200 pcbs and various other items collected over the years that have sat in boxes for an age, hoping to list them for sale when I have time.

No idea why I haven't joined a UK arcade forum until now!

Cheers,

Andy

I hear your proper IT job frustrations too

.

Some may consider messing about with arcade electronics a job in itself, but it is such a relief to get away from horrible buggy operating systems.

Hi chaps,

Thanks for the replies, you've made me feel most welcome!

I'm moving house at the moment from central london (farringdon) back to Chigwell essex, and also working in Devon at the same time, so life is hectic and my access to the net is sporadic.

For those that don't know london too well, to get from central London to Chigwell involves navigating past the olympic village, hence why I have decided to sack it all in tonight, consume alcohol and catch up with life.

Bensonrad: It's been a while, there's far more skilled people on here than me, but I hope to help out where I can!

Alpha: I've tried to attach a few that I have on "the cloud", not the most interesting of photos i'm afraid, but a few gems to me though and everything has a story to tell.

andyman, IDCHAPPY, thanks guys!

paulcan69: sure, no problem, i need to offload a ton! :)

Mesmeric_G: I hate IT, completely avoid it in my spare time. I love the logic in fixing pcbs, shame my artwork restoration skills are poop.

BristolMartin: sure, hope I can help. I was actually in Bristol working a few days this week!

Track and field (my favourite) needs a bit of work, but all caps replaced and very reliable. Space invaders has been kept original, new b&w tube with no burn, toei chassis fixed etc. Those taito cabs are amazing. pac-man: new addition, needs quite a bit of work.
Small silverline: first cab I owned, about 12 years old, got from a warehouse clearance by swallow amusements, I have them to thank for getting me into it all!

Nintendo cocktails I imported - donkey kong (restored), firebird (needs a lot of work, quite a difficult pcb to fix as well).

Pinballs - Simpsons - Great condition, spare unused playfield as well. Harlem globe trotters (first pinball to use VFD scores), needs a fair amount of work. Both have their glass removed as being coated in lacquer.
