Hi from sunny Weymouth !

Came across the Site while browsing.

Obviously a very friendly site which makes a welcome change .

No cabs at the moment but have just had a "Games" room built so

plenty of room to re-create some of my childhood memories.

In fact, many hours of my mis-spent youth playing pin tables

(in the early 60s) in the Amusements on Weymouth sea-front.

Weymouth & Portland will soon be hosting the Sailing Events of the forthcoming

Olympics - but isn't it time that Cabs formed part of the Olympics !

Alan - from a now cloudy Weymouth !

They could hold Hyper Olympic events like they did on "Screen Test" in the 80's

Hi

Thanks to everyone for the warm welcoming messages.

Back in the 60s, the favourite Arcade in Weymouth was the Royal

Arcade (immediately next door to the Royal Hotel.) In the pre-Cab days, the arcade had a small

room dedicated to Pin Tables. There were from memory, 6 or 7 different machines and the

arcade attendant - Sid - would slip a couple of 6d pieces to the youngsters to play the machines.

The Arcade is still there - extended in size - but alas without the PinTables. It is next door to

Rossi's whose home made ice cream is legendary.

Oh for the Good Old Days !

I think it was from a program called "First Class", I remember well the round when they attempted the horse/vault level :)

Screen Test was based on films (hosted by Michael Rodd IIRC)

Hi Alan, and welcome. Spent many hours in the arcades up and down Weymouth as kid. We usually went on holiday there. Remember going one year and one of the arcades caught fire. It was the one in the middle of the small one way section down the Pavillion end. Fond memories of playing Spy Hunter in that one too.
