Hi all, Olly here,
I'm a member of various other arcade related forums but always looking for new info on my favourite hobby

Only got my first cab a few months ago, was definitely going to be the only one....looks like my second will be arriving in a fortnight!
...and so the obsession begins...

Ahh, I'm in Minehead. I only wondered as there's a young lad lives a few doors up the road from me was after buying his first cab last year some time.

Here's my website, which also has my collection on it:

Not been very active in the arcade scene for the last two years mind.

I know Minehead very well, spent a lot of time in the seafront arcades and also had the misfortune of working in butlins for a year

Grew up in Watchet and had a good arcade there which was only a minutes walk from my house....if I still had all the cash I wasted in there i'd be able to buy a LOT of cabs now!

Yeah, spent my entire youth in the Arcades on the sea front. I never went in the one in Watchet back in the day, I have to say. There was too much stuff in Minehead to really bother getting the bus over to Watchet.

Ironically, I now go out in Watchet several times a month as friends have exited Minehead and live there instead. Obviously the arcade is long since gone and the guy left the country (so I'm told).

The guy who used to have the arcade now runs his office next to my old house....he still has a few of the games and fruit machines in the local pubs and a load of cabs in storage...doesn't want to part with them yet!
I can remember exactly what games were in there too - shows how much time I spent there

Saw a few smashed up videomaster cabs not too long ago outside too

Hi Olly,

Welcome to the forum. I'm beginning to think that anybody who grew up near the seaside has an in-built advantage in playing games due to all the time spent in arcades as children. At least, that's my working hypothesis on why I'm so crap (Midlands) and everybody seems better than me ;)

What cab did you pickup? If you look in Members Machines most people have opened a thread for their collection (be it 1 machine or hundreds, Oll/DanP

) so you might want to do the same.

Anyway, welcome to the forum and I hope you enjoy it here.

It does seem seaside was the place to grow up to get good arcades, there are still quite a few open near me like in Burnham on Sea and Weston Super Mare but all filled with fruit machines and grabbers these days and half the size they were!

Got a Lordsvale Neo Geo MVS that needed a bit of fixing up and nearly finished now, my first Candy should be arriving in a few weeks and am also looking at an early bombjack conversion cab in need of some TLC....

My missus is not happy and thought 1 cab was plenty

Andy.

Or perhaps it's due to the amount of time you spent strimming coin mechs to get extra practice goes ;)

Back to the OP, as you can see we're a pretty friendly bunch around here, so get stuck in to the piss-taking :)
