....as subject 😂

I've been sat on a jammaASD for god knows how long, years.

Intent was to get it hooked up so I could start repping the bottom of the table in high score challenges etc.

Sure I picked up an older ATI card that could be flashed, but with working Infront of a screen all day the effort to start re-reading articles on flashing the card isn't too appealing.

Appreciate I can leave the cab off whilst the PC boots, but I'd prefer having the safety net of 15khz output for troubleshooting and protection against Mrs Funk 😂

Am I right in saying that it's ATOM-15 Atombios is the way to go?

I know the felling ;)
No need to flash gpu if you go the “groovymame “ And get Radeon hd 7450 or hd6450.

You can use a pi3+ / pi4 Also for mame. Again pretty straight forward set up , but
Sorry to say Your going to need to read instructions to set up any of these methods

Recommend Chunskin embeded win7 groovymame.
Or the rgbpi with the jamma adaptor
Very nice too

I was going to go down the Linux route, think that's with grooveyarcade 🤔 Ironically I think it's the 7450 I picked up will have to check, would just prefer to flash it to make the whole thing bullet proof for my cab 👍

It was fine on my HD5450 as well, just in case you are sat on one of those as well. But I flashed it with Atom-15 anyway so I could see all BIOS / boot screens. Seem to remember the first version of Atom didn't work but thankfully didn't brick my card, had to try a different version.

Do you know the ver. Of atom that worked ?
I might try flash bios
I did it once but don’t remember it working ..
On that note
Would it be possible to copy the sega bios on the Lindbergh agp graphics cards to then flash non sega agp cards ?

By the way, JammaASD in keyboad mode adds 2 frames of lag to your joysitck and button presses so that slightly spoils the perfection of groovymame if you are going for those high scores. A jpac with a sound amp I think still the best option IMHO

I can't remember version, sorry but it's likely they all work just with different cards. I would imagine the SEGA BIOS swap is probable as long as the 2 cards are identical other than the BIOS.

So last night I thought, I'll pick up an extra card incase I brick one, nice tidy passive 6450 2GB jobby.

Started to search a couple of boxes from the lot where the stuff is stored, and found, presumably a few years ago, I'd already had that exact thought, so now I've got spares 🤦🏻‍♂️

Which one? The newest firmware JammASD greatly improved the situation over the one in the usual latency testing results pages.

That spreadsheet is very sexy. They have the test method listed and I think I have all the kit. Shame it will only work for mister though. Would need something like the "glit" for a universal tester.

I usually just test with an led taped to the crt and a 1000 frame high speed camera. Then count the number of frames / crt gun passes that go by from the time the led light goes out after a button press to the sprite moving on screen.

Surprisingly the jammasd was 2 frames extra compared to jpac on a pcb. I can upload the high speed videos if interested.

Will try new firmware in case it's improved. I wish it was as the jammasd is far easier to use in a cab as it has the audio amp built in.
