greets all, regarding the vectrex:

it seems a common thing about people saying that they would rather not post them. is the vectrex particularly fragile? eg. the glass screen is like a super thin wafer or something??

or is it no different from say, eg. posting a small crt tv ?

People who own a Vectrex don't necessarily have the skills or knowledge to repair them. If you post one there's no guarantee it'll reach the sender working (like most arcade stuff). I think it's just a case that they're relatively heavy vector consoles that sell for more then pocket change and sellers just want a hassle-free sale. I bought mine from a forumite who dropped it off and I feel like I would only sell it by collection, dropping it off or using Martin. It's a strange one but it's definitely the trend.

PS. I'm not selling mine

I got one delivered in the post at the weekend.
It wasn't especially well packed, didn't have "fragile" written on - and it didn't work when I got it.

On closer inspection - it's highly doubtful it worked when it was sent to me.

No way to prove that though.

The next one I wanted to buy online, the vendor refused my perfectly reasonable request to send a small video of the console + joystick working, so that got shelved.

Luckily one came up for sale 10 mins drive from me. After months of looking, I think it was the Fates feeling sorry for me.

They are well built, don't worry too much about posting as long as you got verifiable proof the one you're buying works (and not just a photo found from internet).

thanks guys i just wanted to check really as it seemed odd so many people saying about not liking the idea of posting vectrex's, even though when they were made new and shipped out from the factory to all over the place, it's not like they had any problems being shipped then.
