Ok, this is not a trolling post, but with the recent release of Death Stranding, some things that have started to annoy me about Kojima's games over recent years have come back into focus.
Disclaimer: I haven't played a Kojima game since MGS3, so I realise I'm not in the best position to criticise, but bear with me. Many years ago, trying to get the sneaking suit in MGS3, I realised that the 50 (or so) "levels" they were hidden across revealed just how little gameplay there actually was - in some levels, basically moving Snake from the bottom to the top of the screen.
"Well, d'uh" I hear you say, "that's the basic concept of all games!"
True, but I can't help think that the MG games became little more than (sometimes horrendously long) cut scene stories, with a little bit of player interaction in between. The whole stealth/action thing never really worked for me either - despite a range of weapons, it seemed pointless using them as it simply raised an alarm that could only reset by running away and hiding.
Again, having only watched footage of the later MG games, perhaps I shouldn't be so judgemental.
Now Death Stranding looks like another pretentious offering from Kojima...again, I haven't played it, but it certainly looks dull.
Soooo, am I alone in thinking Kojima hasn't made a decent game since MGS on the PS?
Opinions/hate mail welcome.
