An idea sparking from equities need for a supergun, thought it would be interesting to see what folks use them selves for testing/fixing pcbs.

I currently use a bog standard Vogatek one with Megadrive Arcade sticks and a Scart TV. Whilst it serves its purpose for trying stuff out, can't do a whole lot in terms of changing the picture of sync.

This arrived in the post today in exchange for Super Famicom games and I picked up a Commodore Amiga Monitor a while back for test purposes. So am hoping to somehow set the lot up.

Its a Krisskross Amusements Power Master?? never heard of them, but looks like a Raven games one, apparently it was once featured on the TV show bad influence. The chap I obtained it from said they could not get a stable picture using it, it looks like its been hacked to scart rathr the original output. So am going to have to pop it open for a looksie.

Here are some pics taken literally as I've just taken it out of the box....

Raster / Jamma: http://www.guddler.co.uk/projects/jammarig.html

Vector / Atari: http://www.guddler.co.uk/projects/ataririg.html

The Atari has progressed a little since then with the addition of the X/Y/Z control box and the raster has progressed a LOT since then. I'll take some photos next time I'm up there (shortly). One thing I never have ever done is to create much of a solution for sound on non jamma boards. I had an MCR dual amp board with mixer for several years, then I gave that back and used the built in amp of the Commodore 1084S for a couple years, then when that was given back I either didn't repair stuff without built in amps or just didn't repair stuff, full stop. Now I'm back to a home made stereo amp pegged out on breadboard. But I've not made up a connector for it yet!

uses chad grays old megadrive decoder circuit, sat with a gombes 8200 rgb>vga unit on it as the 8833 i usually have was broken at the time. arcade psu now as the pc at one i was using was only putting out 4.7v on the 5v rail.

i was lacking space and ventilation with the enclosure which is why the lid has got pcb spacers holding it proud of the base

heres another one of it running a saturn;

dsc01030i.jpg

so the sega mega stick input is encoded then decoded by chads circuitry, goes through viletims console>jamma adapter into a hacked saturn pad to be encoded in the pad then decoded by the saturn. the video comes from the saturn as rgb scart get clamped to jamma standard by viletims adaptor then upscaled by the 8200. bit convoluted but i just wanted to see if it worked.

Here it is... the camera made the room look yellow when it's off white? Strange that... same with the sofa bed?

I still think it's hardcore that you've got an open frame monitor :)

The reason the picture has a yellow tinge is due to the white balance in your camera. It tries to figure out what white is from looking at the scene and then adjusts the internal processing to match. If you've got options to set lighting modes then set it for something like fluorescent and it'll whiten out the pics.

"Open frame monitor" is a bit wild isn't it, esp the fact that it's a 28" in a little room, if it did "go off in here" I would have nowhere to run in time to avoid the flying glass...

it sits beside me right now, currently in horz mode and running Ghost's and Goblin's.

(Awesome but hard game!)

Currently boss at end of level 3 is my dying point, it's not so much him but keeping armor getting up to him.

Thanks for the camera tip, it's the other halves camera, maybe she changed something one day, I shall look at that.

Love the greasy hand marks too, extra hardcore points. Unfortunately my rig is buried at the mo so I use my Jamma cab

No, none of the switches are for show, they all do something, so inside :

It can do vector/raster/b+w/standard+med. res. Lots of useful features. 12 years in the making, and its constantly evolving. One day, when i think i've finished adding switches and buttons i'll get the front re-made in anodised aluminium. However, every new feature i add currently needs the flexibility that a fibreglass front provides :)

enjoy

Kind of redundant having been posted in that test equipment thread, but:

Actually it's much untidier than that at the moment, I really need to clear it up a bit, trouble is nowhere to put spare components so they're just kind of piling up, and no bin in there so the dead ones are scattered all over the side and laptop too.
