I see that the manual for the large Outrun 2 SP SDX mentions yet another board: 838-14592-91.
I am trying to upgrade from Chihiro to Lindbergh in my Jap Outrun 2 SP cabinets. Will all of these boards work? They are quite expensive, so I'm a bit afraid to order the wrong thing.

Are you sure? I also thought that, but then I read on another forum that you can use a 838-14592-01, and skip the RS422 converter. Or maybe I misunderstood what was said.

"The Naomi force feedback uses a MIDI board but you can do one of two things. 1. You can connect a Midi to RS232 adapter to make it work with the Lindbergh or you can just look for the FFB board model (Servo Motor Drive BD SER NO. 838-14592) and replace the Midi board."

So many people quote what I've said over the years.

Most get slight facts wrong.

838-14502 and 838-14592 needs rs232 to rs422 converter.

The later one 838-15609 does not, if it has jumpers it can support rs232 and rs422 natively.

However they cost so much more, that I'd always go for the cheaper route. AndyGeezer2016-02-10 06:54:56

I already have a converter, so now I am considering if I should purchase a China board or a "real" second hand 838-14592. I guess I will go for the latter.

And thank you Andy!

If you do buy one, and manage to get it working successfully, let me know please, as I'm struggling to get force feedback on my lindbergh working, even with the right board!

Can I use a 838-14592-01 drive board from a Hummer game and get feedback in Outrun 2 SP (Lindbergh)? Or do I need the 838-14502-01?

So, have you bought a FFB board?

Which one is good to convert a Chihiro OR2 cabinet to Lindbergh OR2SP? I want to do the same.

838-14592-01, 838-14592-91, 838-14502-01?

Or 838-15609, but RS232/422 adapters are very cheap.

I think I will use a multi-boot (if that change something).

I bought two of these from China, but didn't actually try to hook them up yet.

Too many projects.. And I'm saving the Outrun 2 for last, because it's the most important one to me.
