Mid-life crisis anyone? lol.

All us middle-aged men (mostly?), with our obvious nostalgia for these old arcade machines.

Anyone else feel that they may be going through a wistful mid-life crisis?

I dunno, all this nostalgia stuff is just fun for me, being an adult is great and I certainly don't want to be a kid again, I think it's only natural to look back on simpler times with no bills to pay and day to day bs responsibilities. Its a fun escape just like any good hobby should be.

Maybe a mid life crisis is just realising what actually makes you smile and happy and you can finally afford it! And quite frankly why the hel not, life is short and its not hurting anybody.

Maybe your wearing clothes more suited to a 16 year old

To then find out the psycho thinks your too old
Leaves you
Now you regret it all
And have a crack/smack/alcohol problem
And you live in a 1 bed flat on your own
Your mums basement
Or even a high st shop doorway

I bought the arcade machine and the silly car in my 20's, so that's my excuse for still having them in my late 30's, rather than a recent desire to relive the past.
I was never remotely trendy anyway...

It may be a mid-life crisis, but who cares? I think it's good for sanity to have a hobby you are passionate about, and when you can combine that with a man cave to retreat from the nasty real world for a while, all the better!

Na not a mid life crisis ,I’ve never not enjoyed arcade machines from the 70s and 80s
It’s the fact that they are so good and nothing else came along that was remotely close
An extra bit of room and cash certainly helps being older,but I was bringing these things into my parents house from
An early age ,they were always easy going about it
I’ve always driven 80s hot hatches too because they weren’t ever bettered either
The midlife crisis guys are the ones hunting down them machines with a gazillion controls and games for 3 grand because they think it’s cool and as mentioned above ,the ones that leave their family for some slut with a coke habit and start wearing skinny jeans

I don't have enough time to analyse the reasons.. too busy buying old video games/computers/etc etc and thinking "i've got no room left", "I've got no money left", "I've got no time to fix all this"...

I got hooked when I lived in Wokingham in the 1980's and there was a "video tape" hire shop and you had to walk through an arcade (with about 20 cabs) to get to the shop. There was a cinema at the back called the "Ritz".

It's a habit that never goes away, I had a..Vic 20, Commodore 64, Mega Drive, SNES, Neo-Geo, Sega Saturn, Sega Dreamcast and the onto arcade cabinets...
