The majority of arcade machines run ok on recommended 5Amp fuse at supply
Many have a further 5 amp within the machine also either in the euro lead socket or the unit power supply fuse bank

3Amp are mainly used for Xmas tree lights , table or bedside lamps , radios and smaller lcd tv sets etc

Most current is usually drawn at power up. From cold !

While a few machines do require 7 amp or occasionally 10 amp it not that often mainly gun games with solenoid recoil feedback or some drivers with heavy steering feedback which can exceed 5A

The only things requiring the factory fitted 13A are equipment with a heater or motor component like kettles fires washing machines driers fryers etc…. Also multi extension leads as it’s not predicted what appliance may be used beyond them or multiples of lower powered things eg 4 x 5 amp or similar?

Most computer systems are happy with 5 A and usually 2 metre mains leads for this type of stuff has 5Amp when purchased.

Hope that helps? But just check your mains cable for possible weakness damage if it’s been trapped under the cabinet etc or loose terminals either end as these issues can cause higher current to be drawn !

Later info edit: most glass fuses inside games will blow at the fuse rating unless they are resistive ‘slow-blow’ type which resist surges to a degree.
Opaque mains plug fuses are manufactured ‘high rupture capacity’ and will often run an item continuously for a while in slight excess of their rating but are designed to protect the user and appliance from short circuit or sudden unexpected excess power surge. They then blow quickly to isolate the supply voltage.

appreciate the help the cable is fine its not been moved for about 3 years just checked it again it lives in the cabin in the garden which has an air con unit in it ,i think i will swap it out for the 5 amp see if that changes it . cheers again gav.

Aye, 5A would be the right way to go. As mentioned, 3A is for a table lamp.

Divide Watts by Volts to get the Current, then go for the fuse value directly above that. It's meant for DC, but it'll do.
