I am sure this not be of interest to many people but I thought I would post incase there was any interest.

So anyone who knows me is aware of my love for 80's/90's pub scene and many years ago (25 or so now) I built a fully functioning bar with fruit machine , arcade machine (My MAME cab I still have) , Jukebox ect ect. So when we moved I decided to get rid of everything as just had no time or anywhere to rebuild. Life took over and time passed quicker than I could have ever imagined and before I realised my kids were 29 & 27 and I was getting old and having health issues. When I was 18 I worked in a club and loved every minute of it , When I was not working I was drinking and enjoying my time with others playing pool , Darts and listening to music along with a LOT of drinking.

Fast forward to now and not being too well I am trying to find small things to do that will keep me occupied and I have a huge double garage that gets NO use at all so I am going to get it converted to a full bar with Arcade machines , One arm bandit , Coin pusher , darts board with full size bar. My plan is to do this as close to the club I loved so much (That is now houses) all them years ago.

Ok I will move on as I am sure you board , I spotted an advert on ebay and my heart nearly stopped when i spotted this :-

Screenshot 2026-03-08 135918 (1).png

Now yes i know to most people its a piece of junk but this is exactly the same (To the point where I thought it may actually be the one!) as the one I used to use all them years ago. Again its silly bay so the guy wanted to many pennies for it so I decided to make a cheeky offer , And blow me he accepted it !!

It arrived safe and well but sadly the thing was in a rate old state , It was absolutely filthy and I knew it was going to take some time and care to get this fully up and running. So first was to see what we were dealing with - A few images here of when I started to strip it :-

20260307_112301.jpg
20260307_114336.jpg

20260307_112918.jpg

I have way to many pics to post but as you can see it is indeed filthy ! So first I stripped the whole thing down and started to clean as much as I could get too , I was hoping not to fully strip but it ended up being that so just doing this was probably 10 or so hours over a few weeks. Started with the top and once cleaned it started to look something like :-

20260307_182414.jpg
20260307_185034.jpg20260307_185006.jpg

So we now have a clean top that I am as happy as I can be , Next was the awful and quiet frankly the worse pipes I had ever seen !

20260307_123600.jpg

If you look at them (Hard to tell) Inside the pipes are something proper nasty !!! I could not just replace them as they have a special end (You will see them in the next picture) that I could not replace. I stuck them i a bowl of water for hours but made no difference. After many attempts with different product I ended up putting bleech in there and leaving for hours and after 2 or 3 attempts I finaly got them clean.

So I have run out of images so moving to part 2 ..........

Part 2

Now as clean as they can I moved to the base , Now that had paint flaking off (See image above of base) all over the road. It took a while but managed to strip it off here :-

20260426_124948.jpg

So it was Primed , Painted and lacquer applied :-

20260426_132847.jpg
20260428_174952.jpg

Looks decent !!! But I had a problem as I could not buy the missing black drip tray that fits the silver surround. Luckily after hours of searching I found the tray with the holder so managed to sort that :-

20260428_174945.jpg

When purchased it was missing the part that attached this to the base , My father is a very tallented engineer so he milled me the parts I required :-

20260428_175317.jpg

Thanks dad. So now we put it all together and we get this :-

20260428_175611.jpg
20260428_175630.jpg
20260428_175729.jpg

So it all does what it supposed to !! Only things I did not get picks of it the electrics , I have changed the bulds for eco LED ones and should work of my bar light transformer but run out of time to try that.

Last thing is to fully convert so I can use kegs, This required a lot of setup from the pump its self. I just hope its air tight once i start. Need to add pressure slow to ensure I dont reck anything inside. This originally use gas , Water & syrup and for me this is not cost effective so kegs will be filled with Lemondae and Coke (Diet obviously !) and pumped through this.

I dont think its turned out too bad ????? What do you all think , Comment as much as you like.

Hope you enjoyed this ,

Dave.

Great…. Love to see a challenging refurb go as well or better than expected…
As many have maybe seen in my restoration posts , I too punish myself with the tough jobs, it adds to the satisfaction!

As long as you Dave are happy with how it turned out , that’s all that matters.

I enjoyed that for one …… I like anything old colourful advertising technical & coin op, and that fits 4 out of 5 😜

what a great restore, how on earth did you get the white metal bits so clean, did you have to sand and repaint it?

christ, i worked in a bar 30 years ago now...surely they still have these machines???

Just bleach and a LOT of scrubbing , The main top part is aluminium (I think). All the pub ones went to the hand held ones like this :_

Look awful , too modern for my eyes

Great restore!..for those manky silicone tubes with the special ends I probably would have cut them just short of the special connector, cleaned the short stub of tubing with a cotton bud and bleach then used a barbred inline connector with new tubing

Yeh that was my next play , Luckily they are stained but now clean so that was a plus ! Dont like bleach but it certainly does a great job.

So the saga continues , I decided yesterday to connect it all up and guess what !!! .................................... Yeh is was leaking like an 80 year old lady

(Before it failed I filled up a brand new plastic keg , Filled it with water and gassed is to 14psi. I then made a quick and dirty pipe and connector.)

So where to start , In all honestly at the time I did not know , I was so gutted I realy was. But then again I knew I had not stripped the actual pump parts down so there was a risk. I am obviously converting these to use a pressured keg full of Cola / Lemonade so if it leaks under pressure its over !

So I suppose it was time to strip this mother down , There is so many bits its gonna be a total nightmare and I was afraid of losing spring , O'Rings and fitting them back wrong as there is so many bits. So here is the first image as I started strippin , Stupidity I did not take a photo of the full bloody thing ! Ah. Anyway this is the offending article As I stripped it :-

20260516_122818.jpg

20260516_185731.jpg

So all parts were chucked into a jug and I decided to use bleach as there were prety mucky. So after cleaning I had this :-

20260517_182153.jpg
20260517_182158.jpg

So do we have anyone with a science degree ?? Can someone please explain to me how in gods name some of it has turned white !! This has only happed in certain areas althoug the plastic is the same all the way around. I am very confused !! Anyways this makes no difference and it all hidden and you never see it, Also we know there are nice and clean. Obviously I rinsed them all a fair few times to make sure all the bleach had gone , And also I will be sticking proper pipe cleaner through it before we use it. So rebuild the best I can from memory :-

20260517_183756.jpg
20260517_183422.jpg

So after rebuilding , I put it all back together. Didnt connect the tank yet I just blew through the water tube and it was sealed tight !! I then pressed the leaver and ............................... absolutely sod all ! AHHHHHHHHHHH !! So back to the drawing board , strip it dont and work out what was wrong. So it turned out I had inserted 2 of the part upside down. I have no image of this as I was stressed and did not wanna stop to take pics. After turning these around I retested and we had a leak somewhere. It also turns out that the big screws on the top work the opposite way to what I thought so that was easy to sort.

These also take a bit of messing about with to get the lever nice and tight so its not flapping , Get the liquid coming in both sides as well. After all of this i plugged the tube into the keg and we had no leaks and pushing the lever indeed give us the drink !!!! Yeh !! Well chuffed.

Below is the image with just the one connected I had just fixed :-

Screenshot 2026-05-17 201506.png
Screenshot 2026-05-17 201438.png

Come out fast but I will be using a controlled ball value so I can control the speed.

All we needed to do was the other side , Now it was like 7:00pm by now (Saturday) So i quickly srtipped the next one and left it in bleach to clean , Then snuck in later (After a few rum and cokes !) and emptied the bleached water, Rinsed and left it in hot water over night. Can back to it this afternoon and rebuild , There was a slight issue with this one I could not get it to seal at all , Leaking it tits off. Went to strip it again i noticed that one of the screws was not tightened toally so it was not squashing the seal properly , few !! Fired her up and set it all up and that one is working fine too !

Screenshot 2026-05-17 201359.png
Screenshot 2026-05-17 201312.png

I have never done this before but I have shared a couple of videos , No idea if it works ! lol

So basically thats it , Stuck it all back together properly now and popped in a box. I have now ordered all the rest of the stuff I need to make this work properly , The proper Keg (Bloody expensive !) , Connectors , regulators ect.

So basically I think thats the end of this thread , Everything is working as I intended and my original idea of converting it all has been achieved ! I must say I have enjoyed doing this a lot and I am now going to move onto one of my arcade machines as this has given me a kick up the arse. I have gone slow of this , A bit here and a bit there as and when I can.

Thanks for looking , Reading and commenting.

I hope you have enjoyed too.

Dave.

Excellent end result …. If at first we don’t succeed ………..
…….. we refrain from chucking it at the nearest tree trunk….
…… and add it to the learning by mistakes brain file for future reference…

My brain file is pretty congested now with all the screws , clips, brackets, and misc parts we need to identify ? Just need a recycle bin in there before going totally mad! 😵‍💫 !!!
