Oh yeah, another thing while I'm on the subject.
I've been buying and selling at auctions for around 8 years, there IS
such a thing as the "prices going stupid" at auctions, there are some
auction houses I will avoid for this very reason, based on their "regular"
crowd, and sometimes the tactics used by the auctioneers to get punters
through the door. It's in their interest to sell for as much as possible,
bigger bids = bigger commisions for the auctioneer, and you get
auctioneers bidding you "off the wall" etc to drive the prices up.
Theres also the tactic of getting impressionable punters off the street,
and wowing them with rare or desirable items, and getting them into a
bidding war for total rubbish. Prices going stupid?
It might be full of trade, trying to get "fahsand quid" for their "rare"
Pacman cocktail, and some well-heeled Camden socialite firing off
at the opening bid 'cause it'll look good in his lounge.
Prices going stupid?
Also the "complete pratt" element, like the bloke that bid 40 quid for
200 Marlboro (36 quid across the road in Tescos), then had to add 10%
commission AND VAT at a recent auction I attended.
Wasn't you was it?

I got the post too and have not used his site.

Presumably he's been using the ukvac list as a source of addresses for
his "most definitely spam".

This is very concerning. I, like others it seems recieved this blatent
advertising email from the House of Amusement/Uk Auction List. Having
gone to the site and confirmed absolutely 0% relevance (no arcade stuff at all)
I then concluded I got it by mistake from him and another more sensible email
would arrive.

Apparently not. I *CANT* believe some would do that. I find it totally staggering and frankly pointless.

Not that I want to cross swords, but the email flame to P3TE seemed excessive too - surely this Glenn fella realises SPAM is offensive 90% of the time.

Perhaps, Glenn, you'd like to defend your actions / you point of view here - if there had been arcade stuff at the site then I've understood.

We're here for collecting games, and frankly the proposal of a Uk auction is both exciting and promising, lets get thing sback online hey?
