Hello people,

I want to share a project that has been on my mind for a long time. While the intensity of the works continued, I started to draw slowly for this project. I think it is ready to share for now :D

There are too many sellers who are selling the Scanned Arcade Marquees on the Ebay or another website.Especially the USA version of them . But the quality is really poor because of the Scanning and Digital print method. They look very ugly :D

So i have decided to make OFFSET UV print on the Backlit Material 4 different Arcade Marquee For now. I have already finished 2 of them . Im not sure about another 2. I will decide according to people's interest later.

1- Marvel Vs. Capcom

2- Marvel Vs. Capcom 2

3- Street Fighter III 3rd Strike ( ? )

4........................ ? Lets try to find it together :)

These are the pictures of the Marquees which selling on the internet. You can see the Print points because of the Scan.

And this is my Design.

Im still working on the Background. I want to make it %100 original as soon as possible, but i need the original Marquee for that. There are no original scan on the internet. If somebody have it and help me about that, will be awesome.

All of the 6 characters have done.

General Looking ( I know there are some mistakes, and sorry for the low resolution. Im not sharing the whole data because of the Stealing work :) )

I had already created the Logo for the poster before. I have finished all the characters with very high resolution. Still working on background.

I will share about MvSC 2 too in next days. Lets see people's interest ;)

I need the original clear scan for MVSC and MVSC2 Marquees to check and compare it . I want to make it as %100 original.

see the Print points because of the Scan.

No, you are not right. Dot patter is because an early digital printing and it is because a rough protective lamination too which have a distinctive texture. So it is not a scanning default.

Some classic Capcom Marquees are in two types:

A) Silkscreened and rough protective lamination.

B) Digital printing with rough protective lamination. Inside this category are another 2 types too.

It is so weird than marquees were protected by rough lamination, but there is another company that makes it that way, DATA EAST (well, there are more).

Sorry if I seem brusque, I love to speak about arcade and pinball artworks, printings all around. This part of hobby is I like the most.

Greetings

I think you misunderstanding me

These marks are not Halftone or Silkscreen points. Those are scanning points.

They have scanned the original, ( maybe scans of the scans ) then they are selling that.

If they have the original Datawhich has to be digital data, it is ok . But they are not. Thats why you can see the printing marks.

I have the priginal poster files and after printing you can see some marks on it. Thats normal. But if you scan it then re-print it again, you will lost %30 of the real quality.

Thats what i mean ;)

I think he is saying, and if so I agree...

Its the file at fault, not the technique of printing.

So if you finished your file, and printed it using latest digital technology, then you would get a clean print.

Well, I don´t want to show it for now, but I will go ahead!

I´m a whole collector of arcade and pinball artworks, if you don´t know me. I have the largest resort of them in net, I think, and I have this marquee scanned at 600 dpi and others from Capcom (like Marvel vs Capcom 2).

I will show bigger screenshots. Download them to check in details.

Point one ----> Halftone:

I think you still dont understand me

All of the scans on the internet are not the original file. They have scanned it from the Printed Data. Not original digital file.

I have already Re-draw all of them again.

Thats why it will be more quality.

Because of the old technic you can see colors doesnt match well on your scan. I think it is same even on the original.

It doesnt matter how many DPI you scanned it. It has been lost the quality and the real colors. Unless you dont restore it ;)

Don´t worry about, I undestoond so well! I love this kind of projects, I did it one year ago with MVC 2 Marquee.

All of the scans on the internet are not the original file. They have scanned it from the Printed Data. Not original digital file.

Correct! Nobody knows who (non capcom´s staff) has original digital file. It happens with whatever classic and older arcade artwork.

of the old technic you can see colors doesnt match well on your scan. I think it is same even on the original.

This is another kind of question. Do you know what is the perfect colour match of every colour in MvC Marquee?, colour match in digital files and in printed file?

If you don´t have a printed copy, you can not know what are real colours (but only in printed version).

It doesnt matter how many DPI you scanned it. It has been lost the quality and the real colors. Unless you dont restore it ;)

Of course! ... but, when restoration process, how will you know real colours? Do you think that colors of characters from pictures in net you found are real colours used in original file of MvC marquee?

No, Hursit. Digital files destined to a printed work are coverted from RGB (like characters are you using in your marquee version) to CMYK.

I checked your "png" files and are in RGB mode. But I knew it before I checked them.

I´m eager to see your progress and new avances. I respect so much other artists around this hobby.

Tell me, if I can help you with my knowledge and photoshop or other programs techniques.

I like to open you a new way to exploration with MvsC Marquee ahead, with your premission.

Best regards

When i said Colors doesnt match, i didnt mean it. Sorry for my bad English

I mean the colors not to come across. I think it is about the Silkscreen problem. It is ver hard to across it.

I draw the characters on RGB mode then i have designed them to CMYK before printing.

Of course nobody know whats the original colors. But im checking the colors from the Original Illustration Books of Capcom. Thats why im searching the original Marquee's too. I can check the colors again after printing.

I always use OFFSET print. Not digital printing.

Thanks for your offers.

Interesting thread, something i am looking into myself as I have many many years as a sign maker and now in this industry, I have been thinking of using my skills here having followed print up till about 5 years ago.

In the UK the 'Offset' usually means it's a rotating drum that transfers ink onto a surface, how leaflets, magazines etc is made in Litho and for full-colour printing this requires at CMYk plates and good half-tone patterns.

For short-run digital printing revolutionised the process and there is many kinds of machines and some even print very solid looking outputs with very fine dots.

There is also calibration of colours, having been a sign maker and having back-lit panels depends on many factors, bulb colour, white layer, print and how well your RIP works.

Anyway, nice designs and been interesting read
