[ukvac] OT: Can someone check me out please!

Hey all

Some routine maintainence on my adsl line crashed my router for some
reason. I've reset it this morning and everythings back up and
running again now - but I just wondered if the website I host here is
still working as the stupid Linksys router isn't straightforward to
set up port forwarding.

Can someone reply ONLIST (cos I'm connected to a VPN and can't receive
email) if http://www.arcadegeek.co.uk is up and running or not? If it
is, then this time I'll back up the settings and so won't need to ask
again!!!

I've had no interest in my Toobin' at all anyway!

As you know the site already works, but your story about your career in

In answer to some questions:

Nope, afraid I don't live in Clacton any more - wish I did! I had to sell
that place to pay a tax bill after I split up with a girlfriend and she took
half of everything I had (obviously including my tax money...)

Women are *eViL*...

I'm living in Boston in Lincolnshire at the moment and yes, Phil, come round
any time! ) Unfortunately I'm not at the SW meet due to a clash of plans
(that and being a tiny bit skint after losing £5k t'other day - I have made
back £1500 this morning, but it knocked my confidence a bit).

About my connection: I use a 1mb download with just a 256kb upload
connection from Nildram (with a static IP - so no messing around with
DynDNS) I admit I'm surprised about how quick the site comes up especially
as I'm hosting three virtual domains and all get hits at the same time!
There doesn't appear to be much (if any) slow down.

My server is only a standard desktop - Pentium 3 450mhz 128mb RAM advent
jobby from PC World. It's running Gentoo which I *HIGHLY* recommend! I
think it's a fantastic operating system! The webserver is apache2 and the
site is running off Drupal (drupal.org) which stores the backend database in
mysql. I'm sure the whole thing would run quicker too, but I use it with a
KVM switch so I can look at the internet while I'm trading (because my work
VPN doesn't allow me to do anything at all on the internet) so I switch over
to my Gentoo box where I'm running Gnome / Firefox and stuff. Nice! )
But obviously it'd be quicker without it all on there...

Hehe ;o) They're only that high on things that I don't want to part with!
Those are the prices that'll pry those beauties out of my grubby hands, else
I'm keeping them!!!
Everything else will be *reasonable* once it's all on there, I've just not
got round to taking pictures of it all yet.
