[ukvac] OT: Xbox mame
I know this has been covered before but I cant seem to find it in the
archive for some reason? Anyway - I finally got an XBox. How do I get
mame for it and onto it? Does it need to be modded? I was reading
that you need to have the oficial SDK to compile it, or are there
binaries floating around?

Any help would be appreciated as I know some of you guys have done
this already.

Ta!

Take the advice on the page of going to #xbins on efnet. If the page hasn't
been updated since 28th October 2003 then that's a hell of a lot of updates
that will have been missed...

As for the modding, i beleive it IS possible to get stuff on there without
modding it now, but rather you than me and good luck and all that! I think
there's a MUCH higher chance of rendering the xbox useless is you do it
without a mod chip.

Also, you're going to want to rip out the 10GB hard disk and put something
usefull in there like a 120GB one anyway if you want to do much with your
emulators. Mame with all the roms will take up all of that disk alone.

Just be very careful about replacing the hard drive with a new one. Not all
are lockable, meaning that you can't get on live (if you want to that is).

One of my mates has this problem.

Re: [ukvac] OT: Xbox mame
Again thanks for the advice - appreciated.

How tricky is the mod installation, and as there seem to be a lareg amount of chiops outthere, which are recommended (preferably the easiest!). Or is theer a modding service I could use thats relaible?

I probably only want the "smaller" roms in the box for now at least so I'll do the HD upgrade at a later date I think.
