Hi All,

Why is this game so good. I recently got an Xbox (still in its original box) via Ebay for around £50 and a brand new sealed copy of Outrun 2 for £20 this week. I even like the old style controller which vibrates more than the Xbox 360 ones.

What a game!

Sumo did a great conversion job.

Your views please ?

Cheers

yes it's great and even has the original OutRun in as an unlockable bonus!

Pity my Xbox DVD drive has conked out. Really need to fix that at some point!

It was such a good conversation I suspect it influenced Segas decision to not convert the new Daytona to console!

I noticed on the Tulip Garden stage at one point when you get to the line of trees each side of the road the game does slow down on the Xbox slightly for a few seconds and does not run at 60 fps. Other than that I believe it all runs at a solid 60 fps. Has anyone else noticed this?

I also met Steve Lycett (the game producer from Sumo) at last years Play Expo meet at Event City in Manchester. He had fond memories of the Out Run 2 production and he said SEGA were great to deal with too !

As mentioned above the PC version of this game is great too and there are mods that have been done to allow gamepad rumble as it wasn't implemented in the PC version as well as some graphics mod that changes the screens display of the selection buttons to match the arcade ones. I found out the other day that my graphics card allows me to record PC game play so I recorded a game of outrun and uploaded it to YouTube.
Don't laugh at my driving skills though as it was just a test and i'm usually a bit better (honest

If you consider original games, OR2 Xbox is better (closer to arcade) than C2C Xbox/PC/PS2.
But with FXT patch C2C PC is very good, with a lot of improvments.

Yes I agree the original OutRun 2 for the Xbox seems to have more of the SEGA "AM2" DNA in it than Out Run Coast to Coast, although Coast to Coast is still a great game.

Hi,

I played the original version of OR2 on my Xbox and then tried the Coast to Coast version. If you then select the original OR2 on the Coast to Coast version the graphics differ and are more grainy and seem to have less special lighting and sun glare effects which is strange as I thought they would be identical !

Cheers
