I can't be alone in this, far from it!
I've needed glasses for computer use for quite a long time now but on my latest check up my reading prescription has doubled and it was recommended that I would need varifocals. Happens to most people with age. They are what they call "Supervisor" ones where there is a small area at the bottom for reading, the bulk of it (for me at least) is for up to 2ft away, for the computer and then there is a small bit at the top which is up to about 4-6ft away so that if I am presenting at work I can look up at the projector, or the rest of the room without taking them off.
Now these things are fekin' expensive!
BUT, I do a lot of PC gaming and I'm finding that I can't with these on. Basically, vertically things are out of focus unless you move your head. That was to be expected, it's the way they work. But I'l also finding that horizontally they are the same. Anything outside about a 2 inch radius is also out of focus.
In my mind that's no good for PC gaming where you have to be able to see all around the screen very quickly. There just isn't the time to move your head about all the time...
So I'm going back to my old normal ones. But this is only going to come up again in another year or two.
Surely other people must be having the same problem. What do you do? Give up PC gaming? Something else?
I'm just wondering if this is a relatively new problem given we're probably the first "older generation" to play video games much.
???
Not sure what to do at this point...
