PC Mame or Xbox Coinops ?

Any reason why one is deemed better or preferred than the other.

I have an option of using either or for a project for someone who can't decide either way so I wanted to guage opinion or technical advice as to which I should go for.

Thanks in advance all

So why is Coinops so popular then ?

Maybe people do it to get some use out of an original Xbox other than as a doorstop?

I've used both and agree that even a 15 year old PC setup beats Xbox Coin ops.

The latest versions of GroovyMAME etc on PC and even the RetroPi builds that are very popular now are infinitely better.

I have both, but enjoy using the Xbox coinops with mates, as its more sticking a console on at the big old TV, rather than sitting round a computer desk.

Agreed. Possibly an easier experience if you're going to just play it on a TV/monitor. I was assuming you were going to put one or the other into a cab.

Amazingly has now said that he would prefer a plug and play on a TV for his mates to use over a home built cab.
Space issues etc.
So it's also on Windows now ?
I'll look in to that too.
Thanks all

Coinops on windows is just a clever theme set for one of the frontends, not a massive fan of it as it kinda spilts things into categories.

If you want space saving you could always get one of those mini PCs, or even an Android box like the Shield with enough grunt for most games.
