Hi wondered if anyone knew of any software for a windows pc that is easy to use for kids to make music.

I know way back on the atari st you had stuff like Cubase but there used to be simpler software too where you could have pre done drum beats and tracks and add in your own sampled voices etc.

Almost drag and drop.

I had bought them a dj deck but was far too complicated so going back to argo !

Just looking for something my kids could use to try and do some drumbeats and maybe put a track together.

Does not have to be free just need a point in the right direction.

On the Atari there was lots of stuff and was not that complex, seems a mind field now.

Perhaps I can make rave track.

Thanks

that playstation game was very accessible, i used to spend hours messing about on that

may be worth grabbing an emulator and seeing if they like that, you may find that most PC softwar elike that will be be professional and overly complex for what you are looking for

i'll ask my son when he gets in from work later, he is a musician who produces stuff in Uni for people

You can buy Cubase 'elements' for £85 from the online shop or it's often bundled with hardware. You get a basic drum machine and some soft synths thrown in too.

Ideally you would need a small midi keyboard too or a drum machine / sampler type pad thing.

There are a few other alternatives out there too. Ableton Live seems popular.

The kids are under 13 so maybe a drag and drop software led item for now, then move onto midi this looks funky
