Preventing sun fading?

Hello all, I wondered if anyone had any good suggestions on how to prevent sun fading on artwork / boxes / beloved collectables.

I tried the stick-on UV filters for the windows once but even at the lightest tint it made the room so so dark and oppressive. Perhaps there's a good way to cover the items without hiding them behind a curtain? Or something else I don't know about??

I know the real solution is to be in a room without sunlight... but any tips would be appreciated!

I have seen what this does to my books over the years - but at the end of the day there are only two choices: shield the light coming in or shield the items! 😉 I have mine in boxes out of dust and light but have a large bluray/dvd collection that I keep behind card sheets decorated with posters etc. Maybe a daft idea but I guess you could take photos of your collection on the shelves and get this printed onto a large sheet of something to cover them with?

I've put 'Ultra UV Protection Anti Fade Window Film' from [Abode Window Films] on the inside of my office windows where my cabs etc are.

I've had it on for about 6 years with no issues. I know it's hard to tell if things are fading when you see them on a daily basis but I've not noticed any major fading. There is a veeeery slight tint to the film but it's not noticable once installed, as you can see you can tell it's a drab british day with ease:

I have some posters on my wall opposite that window. When I had them framed I had UV-protected museum-grade glass used for them. Double bag ftw.

My games room and house is south facing, so gets zapped by the big UV gun in the sky, all day long. 😆 I'm probably not as fussed about it as some people, but try to keep stuff out of direct sunlight, if possible.

Thanks for all the replies everyone! It's also my office so I don't want to live in darkness... so I'll either cover or use a better UV film... Speaking of:

Thanks @FrancoB - That looks pretty clear to me. Here's the version I tried, it was cheap and from Amazon which was probably the issue. But it felt like the difference was literally night and day... I hope yours didn't look that different?? If so I'll buy some from them!
