A real techno-head enthusiast would simply design a new chassis board
with X and Y amplifiers for the deflection coils, a spot killer for
protection and a suitable HT circuit based on a bog-standard line output
transformer.
For the super deluxe version, a PIC microcontroller could implement the
protection, drive the HT with feedback for regulation, adjust the
geometry of the incoming signals to match the tube and do diagnostics.
