Unfortunately, done that (sorry been on the irc channel, but didn't update
the list).
All voltages are present and correct at the edge connector. I can find
evidence of +5v on both top and bottom boards, don't don't really know where
to check for +12v (don't really want to stick me meter somewhere i
shouldn't), but one of the replys reckoned the board would function happily
on +5v alone anyway.
I really must take note of who says what one of these days ;o)
Apart from putting it on the shelf 'till i get more experience at this i
don't really know what else to do.....
